He lived to be 107 years old. During his long life, he assumed the name of 71 aliases, and under one of them, William Andrews Clark, he became a major player in the Conspiracy active in the United States. He became a U.S. Senator in Montana, had the county of Clark County (Las Vegas is the county seat) named after him, and founded the city of Clarkdale, Arizona. Jesse also claimed that John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln, did not die in the barn as traditional historians record. Jesse claimed that he poisoned Booth in 1903. |
