OIL rigs all shut down, gas is skyrocketing. notice how it all hit at once? no chance for people to get out of the city I tried alerting people to the same issue...I got no love. Thread: Is Tropical Depression 13 going to destroy New Orleans like Katrina? wow sorry about that, should have searched But i agree with you, this is a insanely bad event I wasn't trying to throw it out there as 'first poster' or anything. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1303529 United States 09/01/2011 10:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After Katrina...if you don't GTFO of there...then you are doomed due to your own ignorance. I REALLY hope the idiots in gov. and Fema will step up and do the RIGHT thing this time around and not repeat the clusterfuck the world watched helplessly unfold over several days. I felt horror at watching the people begging for water - the red cross not going in because the mayor, governor and fema said it was too dangerous and all the other shitty excuses they trotted out to cover up the total incompetency that was exhibited... People - help your neighbors who may not have a car to get to safety and please take your pets...too many died - people and animals alike. |
Ap0c@Lyp5e (OP) User ID: 1518602 United States 09/01/2011 10:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont see how there can be a 'good' outcome from this.Seems to be a question of Bad or Worse. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1531511 I hope people are taking it seriously. I wouldnt even comment on this if the models werent showing it stalling for nearly 5 days, that means strengthening, storm surge, and epic flooding.. Judgement is coming.. |

I was just amazed at how apathetic people were to the subject. For me I just noticed how bad it was.Last night it seemed to just be a little rain maker and not much to it so havent followed it today.I checked the weather channel and watched Jim C all in alert mode so this thread happened to be the first one I noticed when I looked on GLP.I think many are like me and just didnt realize it was serious. Thanks for posting about it. |

I wouldnt even comment on this if the models werent showing it stalling for nearly 5 days, that means strengthening, storm surge, and epic flooding.. In 2009 Army core of engineers came out with this...detailing preparing for a 100 year storm. [link to www.nolaenvironmental.gov] If you look at flood maps of the area, a 100 year storm is 6' of water. These basins are going to be highly loaded...storm drainage won't be able to handle it, and the city will fill. I just hope the rain is more gradual. The economy is fucked up the way it is...we don't need any domestic weather disasters. |
