In some places I bet it was 100 times worse than what was seen in the video!

I think if he got out before, he would have been overcome by the surge and held under by debris - unless he managed to get up a tall building. If he waited to till the last, most of the debris would hopefully passed and he could clamber onto something buoyant. The original surge is the most violent.

True but the debris being picked up from the EQ damage would have been enormous.

Glad it's had such good coverage, I'll bet that many people in Japan would never have thought that it could happen to them, just like most around the world! - Oh, it happened there but it could never happen here!

I would go so far as to say that if you live in a big city when TSHTF, you're as good as dead!

How are you going to survive without electricity, fuel, food, water etc. Too late to leave then - how would you get out? Walk?

It's always up to the indvidual what they do but I do beleive we are being given wake up calls.

I'm sure their's probably hundreds of thousands if not millions of people that haven't seen it. Just pointing out the fact that it's not new and has been discussed. Maybe an old thread has more detail about who what when and where it happened and if that person is ok. As videos go around people seem to only post just the video and nothing else about location or occupant which peeks the interest of someone else who may want to oh I don't know want more information on that situation.

You're welcome! Sometimes its good to repost something that is so interesting and can give to us more opportunity to talk about it. What I dont understand is when we have breaking news and people come to post it as a new thread without even search the first page!

Anyway, any ideas on what it is better to do if we find ourselves in such an event? My first thought is when you see the first water coming from far away, get out and run for the closest building. But sometimes the gates are far away (as most buildings have a fence around them, so maybe the water will reach you while still running to find shelter.)

Yes, I think so. And do not put down the windows in front, but put down the windows in back (for escape path, if needed) - as the cars float, with the nose down a bit (due to engine weight of course).
