CRAZY STRANGE weather near San Pedro, Ca Tonight! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1343684 United States 09/05/2011 02:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just got back from quite an odd little sunset. Quoting: Doomamatrix We had rushed out to an over look on the ocean to see sunset. The clouds held the promise of a particularly lovely one with oranges and pinky tones. As we came upon the over look, a HUGE double rainbow hung over head. The wind was really whipping and it was chilly, 65 per the car's themo. As we're out there, wrapped in blankets, big drops of rain started to fall but then, the wind became dry and VERY warm like about 80 within the course of 3 minutes! The rainbow had faded but now many people were pulling over, squeezing onto the overlook, all gaping at the orange/yellow sky and saying the same thing: this is WEIRD!!! Hubby checked the temp and it still read 65 but all agreed that the wind was very warm. All throughout, rain drops continued to fall here and there. Anyone else in the LA/Harbor area notice any strange clouds/weather tonight?? Same thing happened in Fresno last week. 95 degrees, clear skies all day. At sunset, some clouds came out of nowhere, must have rained on the outskirts of Fresno, but no rain here, but there was this giant red rainbow, no other colors, just red. My daughter took a pic, put it on her facebook, and when I saw it I thought WTF, as I was inside that night. Strange weather this summer. We have barely been over 100 all summer, and usually its like 50 straight days of 100, 105,110. Not this year. Can't wait to see what winter brings. |

I know most so cal folks don't experience any real weather, and when you do it is shocking. What you describe happens every evening during the summer here in southern arizona-monsoon rains. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1526695 However, your quake is still to come... With what has been going on in the rest of the pacific rim the last few years, and weeks, we are way overdue. |

Anyone else in the LA/Harbor area notice any strange clouds/weather tonight?? We are 45 mins. NE of LA in the Angeles Mt area. We were out feeding the animals a little before 8:00 pm and I saw a flash in the sky south of us. It must have been lightening, but the weird thing is that the lightening flashes kept up for over an hour and we never once heard any thunder. Not once. "Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. ALL truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself." |
fairflight User ID: 1071336 United States 09/05/2011 03:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes. I'm in West LA and noticed a crazy stormy looking sky, then huge rainbow and unusually beautiful sunset (balcony faces east though, so was viewing all this in that direction...but i imagine if it was so colorful inland then must have been pretty great coastal). Then about half hour ago noticed crazy lightning over in the east sky. Can't remember the las time I saw lightning in Cali! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1304408 Yes, lightening. Same here but we are 45 mins or more NE of LA. Did you hear any thunder? We didn't...it was the weirdest feeling. An hour or more of lightening and "NO" thunder. I checked NOAA and it said possible thunderstorms 20% but that was "not" the NOAA forcast yesterday. "Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. ALL truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself." |

There was no thunder. That is not normal either. "Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1516143 United States 09/05/2011 03:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw the double rainbow as well, I live in the South Bay. My friend called to tell me about it and when I walked out the sky was really cloudly and grey almost smokey looking with the double rainbow and when I turned to look the other direction it was completely light up with white clouds and orange and pink hues. There was a 20 percent chance of rain and I noticed the skies getting darker earlier than they typically do. My girlfriend said it's beautiful but it's erie at the same time. The wind picked up about 30 minutes after all this. Very strange. I took some pictures but they didn't turn out too well. |
Doomamatrix (OP) User ID: 1520083 United States 09/05/2011 03:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My pics didn't do so good either. On the crappy little cell phone, could not get the full effect! Would love to see a pic of the RED bow tho'! Thanks, everyone, for chiming in. Was up at 4AM and saw one big FLASH of light in the north but that was it. Hubby up earlier to close windows against high winds. What really continues to get me is that anywhere else in the world, all of this would mean one heck of a good, clearing storm but...never in LA!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1297278 What don't you understand about the ongoing aerosols sprayed above you that creates these weird colors and formations? No wonder they can spray so freely overhead without people questioning it. |

Didn't want to start a new thread at the time but felt like it was worth documenting because, as you all have verified, it was quite an unusual night over the Los Angeles area. 7:26pm PT The skies over West L.A. were feeling ominous today with black clouds moving in from the coast. I guess it rained somewhere because we just had a beautiful double rainbow, then the skies turned blazing pink as the sun started setting. 7:42pm PT thunder and lightening now. 7:46pm PT notable because it wasn't in today's forecast. The cat had upchucked all over the place and then INSISTED on going out of doors on the balcony. Of course when she saw the birds, she didn't want to come back in! TrixieMama User ID: 1311280 United States 09/05/2011 07:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | been a really odd day where I am in LA County. Hot, cold, windy, humid. A variety of conditions. Last night I woke up at 3am and there was a sudden down pour. An hour later thunder unlike any thunder i've ever experienced and then about an hour later winds at least 30-40 MPH. My house shook a bit with each big gust and creaked a lot, LOL. Very odd weather, seems like EQ weather to me. Something just isn't right. Also this morning when we left the house (about 9:30am) the sun was really, really hot. Just walking to the car made my skin burn which isn't normal. It felt like it was on fire and my car is just a few feet from the porch on my house so exposure was really short/limited. I noticed around 1pm the same burning sensation from the sun when it got really humid. Now it's hot but a couple hours ago it was really cool, at least a 10 degree fluctuation. The patio says 90 degree's right now with the fans going. Very odd considering it was bordering cold just a couple of hours ago. Pointing towards the west: at 7:20 pm [link to imageshack.us] at 7:48 pm [link to imageshack.us] The skies were gorgeous but *something* doesn't feel right. My mom and I had this conversation yesterday too :) Something is amiss. Not sure if it's weather modification or what but something isn't right. I've lived in CA all but 3 years of my life (spent 3 years in CT as a military wife) and have spent many summers in the midwest. This weather we are experiencing, is not typical CA weather and the only times I can remember having *off* weather happened to be times when we experienced dramatic weather changes that ended with an EQ. Your pics were beautiful :) I spent sometime outside yesterday evening admiring the beautiful rainbow the sunset created in the sky/clouds. Such vibrant colors. I think what strikes me as oddest is the dramatic fluctuations in weather, one minute it's cold, the next it's hot then it's humid and raining. Def not typical So Cal weather. And to the poster from the Front Range of CO; yes, I agree 100 per that we need more variety in our weather here! Now, when I lived in CO, and it was the front range btw, I recall sunsets that just took the breath away! Usually, the evening sky here is cloudless. One sunset tends to look like other one, day in, day out. You need CLOUDS to have a good sunrise/sunset. It's just like life; we all have our clouds and that is what can make us interesting. Letting the sun/SON shine on our clouds can make us beautiful! Will be in church tonight so no sunset for me! You guys let me know if anything out of ordinary happens again, ok? Thanks!
