My friends and I have discussed a concept of a two-tiered citizenry. That being those who vote and those who do not.

Essentially...you have to have a desire to belong to the voting tier to get there. As in you care about what is going on, actively stay in the know, and do not mind the added responsibilities and duties that comes along with the vote.

Those belonging to the other class do NOT get any less financial support or anything like that. They simply do not take part in politics. Though they should strive to!




Obviously this sort of thing would not work in our CURRENT SOCIETY.

I've been saying this for years. Even a test to determine if the potential voter understands the policies they are voting for. For example, most black people I know are actually relatively conservative. They are against gay marriage and abortion... yet, they ALL vote Democrat. I've had discussions with friends who vote Democrat simply because their parents are Democrats, and they were brought up that way. They still believe that the Democrats are for the "working man", which is completely bonkers. It reminds me of when Howard Stern sent that guy up to Harlem prior to the 2008 election, and asked Obama supporters questions about why the liked Obama. However, he inserted McCain's policies instead of Obama's. I'm sure you've all seen it...




I'll even take it a step further... I don't feel you should be able to vote if you're on Welfare. I mean life-long welfare leeches, not someone who collects unemployment benefits for a few months, or elderly people on Medicaire.

How do you propose such a test is proposed? Is it by IQ, Political stance, income, class? Furthermore who will govern that? Will it fall into corruption as the voting is anyway? Why does it matter when presidents are pre elected anyway?
