I don't live there so I don't feel posting this endangers me. I picture more like a survival business deal totally off grid. I can't do it alone, but a community of us could!

IM dowwn....im an electrician i will do the wiring....fully automated hatch and we will put a proximity sensor grid around our entrance with full display...rig up the handles to 600v ...sounds like a fun project!

finding the right people is going to be difficult

just because they have the money to help you build is absolutely no reason to set up some form of prepper group
with them.

and visa versa just because you have a bit of land does not make you a good person to be around when the worst happens.

If we get enough people interested I could start a community blog on wordpress or facebook, although don't want to advertise to everyone in the world where one(fallout) could be or it could endager us.

So true, I'm just barley middle class, and am only trying to find a way for us normies to have a chance too. I feel if it is suppose to happen it will. Money isn't the prerequisite, but we would need it. Looking for good people that want to help themselves. I don't think mass genoicide is fair play when only the bad guys control the weapons.

I dunno...it may be more of an earthquake falloff shelter. Didn't they say Cali was gonna fall in the Pacific by means of an earthquake.

Just purchase a couple of used, but watertight 40 foot metal shipping containers from the long beach port, or google "used shipping containers for sale"-- (I think they're about $2,000 each), have them shipped to your property, and then dig a hole to place the containers in, leaving about two to three feet of space on top for an earthen roof. If you don't want to hand dig, then rent a backhoe for a day to dig the hole, and use logs to slide the container into the hole. If you purchase three or more containers, you could network them together underground... ie.. one for an entrance with storage, bath, kitchen and shower, and the rest as sleeping quarters. Make sure that the containers are sealed with watertight basement sealant before you put them in the ground...lol...

1) You will need a hand pump for your water well (about $900) so when the grid fails, you will have fresh water from your well. You could also buy a well tank which would allow you to hand pump your water into it, and give you water pressure for a shower or for a toilet.

2) Purchase a Berkey water filter with replacement ceramic filters, (which don't require electricity) along with 20 gallons of bleach to store on site (1/8 teaspoon of bleach per gallon will kill all e coli and any remaining viruses if you don't trust your well water)

3) 2-3 feet of soil on the roof of the underground shipping container, or cheap cinderblocks lining the top of the storage container roof, to protect from incoming gamma radiation-- just line the top of the shipping containers with cheap cinderblocks, and then cover with a few inches of dirt and grass-- no one will know where you are! The containers should be shallow enough so an 10.0 earthquake does not kill you, but deep enough to protect from high winds and gamma radiation.

4) Purchase cheap shelving for your freeze dried food, rice, beans, canned goods, seeds, gardening supplies and other preps ...and simple army cots for bedding... and make improvements to your shelter as you go along.

5) Make sure your elevation is at least 1200 feet above sea level to protect you against any huge tsuanmi from a massive earthquake in the pacific..

6) You may wish to purchase a few solar panels or a small windmill, and 12 volt deep cycle batteries so that you can run air filter fans, light bulbs and a computer or mp3 device.

All in all--- a cheap underground facility should not cost you more than about $6,000 if you plan it right! One toilet, well and shower could serve up to four families ( four shipping containers) in a pinch... you could sell shares in the project!

Just build it on top of Yellowstone and save money by not having to dig.

Sell that land and move to Idaho. Much more cheaper land (and taxes and regulations), more resources, away from nuclear fallout and major nuclear targets, and people more agreeable to prepping than the leaches known as the Golden Horde of California. Plus, you won't slide into the sea when the big one hits.
