Anyone Have Any Advice to help CLUELESS KIDS?
my sons in their early 20's don't have any clue about whats going on. I want to help them, but can't find a common basis of communication.

they spend their time on facebook and twitter and dont seem to care about tomorrow.

any ideas? I would like to help them get established in life and avoid some of the shit I went through, but they dont seem to care

Re: Anyone Have Any Advice to help CLUELESS KIDS?
You can't help people that don't want help. The best you can do as a parent is tell them you are concerned for them and that at anytime they find themselves in a hole and need help, they can contact you and youll help however you can because you love and will always love them. It's like teaching them to ride a bike, at some point you just have to let them go but if they fall and get hurt you gotta be there to fixem up and get them right back on the bike.

Hope this helps , peace

Re: Anyone Have Any Advice to help CLUELESS KIDS?
I am single and don't have any kids, so I am not qualify to give you advise. But I would say that they don't really need to know too much about the world at this young age. They are young and should just enjoy life without any worries as they are doing. That's why you worked so hard, so your kids could have a great life and enjoy - sounds like they are enjoying, good for them! Your responsibility right now is to make sure they go through college and get their degree or go through a trade-school and learn a good trade so they can become a bread-winner. They can worry about the world when they get old like you, and get all pissed off at the politicians when they become more mature.

I'm 20. If they have a facebook and twitter, theres little hope.. too distracted by their egos, thinking people actually care what they're doing every hour of their life (No offense to your children, it goes for anyone constantly using twitter)

I have relatives that age and some family friends and they are for the most part absolutely self absorbed with their social nonsense and would not even notice a ufo landed on their car unless someone facebooked them about it.

They are also amazingly stupid and you can give them instructions face to face about things they volunteered to help with and only about 25% of what you say penetrates their fog.

I'm not exaggerating. Don't hire anyone from 17 - 25 for anything important like feeding livestock. Not as a helper or to give a hand while you are out. It will go badly. Maybe as an employee if you forbid them to check text messages and the phone while at work but you will have to take the phone away when they clock in.

Otherwise they literally will check the damn thing every 5 minutes and totally forget the details of what they are supposed to be doing. If you hire one to do basic manual labor like trim hedges or pile wood you will be amazed at the vast stupidity shown in how they do the job.

I agree. Once they get to that age, if they have not learned self-discipline, it's a lost cause. Mine is 11 right now and hates me with a passion, but I don't care. I will not allow her to grow up to be a 20-something slacker living rent-free in my house playing video games all day.

Face it, some young adults are going to take longer than others to "Figure things out". The College of Hard Knocks is always a safety net for those that don't want to attend the College of Imparted Wisdom from those that have graduated from the Hard Knock College.

That's not a situation you can control, so let them enjoy their present life and try to do the same.

They will be bored about these things one day, and they will start a new life at this moment.

In my 20's I was always deploying to various Combat Zones around the World, leading my squads on Patrols and when I got back, I was married and taking care of my Family.

I believe anything I could offer as far as advice would fall on deaf ears.....

I think this is part of what some call lifting the veil and others think of when they repent...one day we will see how insignifacant we are and will be in shock. All these useless posts of what one is doing or pics or how many friends, once they find out (when repentant or the veil is lifted-whatever your thing is) no one gives a crap about them (except mom and dad) and everyone only cares about themselves, they'll have an ego breakdown.

My adult children won't listen either, so I am filling a 5 gallon bucket per person with dry goods and canned foods for them to pick up if shtf. That's all we can do. Not much, but it's something.

they're just consumed with the ethos of our society.

sit them down and just tell them very surfacely about your concerns for the future.

they will most likely blow it off and act indifferent but your words will stick and you will look like a prophet when the shtf.

OP:

End Fluoride in Municipal water, Chemtrails, ween them from carbs/gluten, & maybe unplug their mind derailing gadets, tv, iphones, etc.

You might then have a chance, don't hold your breath till their brain patterns are restored to some base level.

Re: Anyone Have Any Advice to help CLUELESS KIDS?
I'm 30 now but when I was a young boy I spend a lot of time with my grandmother. My grandmother had a lot of interest in history and current events. I remember numerous times her explaining and discussing history, news and current events with me from the positive to the negative I would watch TV with her or she would make comments about articles she read on her favorite magazine Reader's digest and NGO she would read me Reading me Jules Vernes.

As much as I like technology my FB Till this day I credit my interest in world events, news and history on that.

I can't give you any advise for a 20 year old but for those parents that have younger kids make sure you discus things with your kids, Take the time to watch educational channels like discovery, animal planet, history channel and my favorite National Geographic and discuss the topic. Get them involved on everything the way I look at it if your frying an egg teach the kid how to fry it, everything you do slow down and share it with your kids by explaining step by step what you are doing. it is all up to you to teach them.

Man I'm proud of being a good cook, handy man, being able to fix my car, built stuff, have survival skills, first aid, Still be a man and kick somebodies ass when I need to and be able to Saw, Iron my clothes, balance my bills, fix a computer,

Take the time to pass on everything you know to your kids.

The key to it all is not being forceful with them but open and willing to listen first to what they have to say. From there it naturally leads to them listening to you! I kid you not, it's that easy! Parents are so busy working to provide for their families they lose sight of the fact that your TIME is what they need most! My oldest daughter is a super achiever, very driven, conscientious, hardworking and runs a very structured lifestyle. She loves her child, plans outings with her every weekend and thinks only of her. Problem is she has to run the show! Let the kid run the show sometimes and you would be amazed at the results.
Before they'll talk with you they need to know they will be heard!!
