The story of the raging wildfires in Texas took a turn for the bizarre today when the federal government seized control of the effort and began sending volunteer firefighters back home -- even though some had driven through the night to arrive on the scene.
With no end in sight and the fires at zero percent containment in Bastrop County, many are wondering why the federal government is turning away volunteer firefighters who only want to help save lives and property.
Here's the latest on this developing situation which has now (confirmed) resulted in two fatalities and 500 - 1000 homes burned to the ground:
[link to www.naturalnews.com]

(NaturalNews) As fires raged across central Texas for the past three days, local citizens sprang into action to protect their lives and property. Local churches opened their doors and began hosting refugees left homeless by the fires which have now destroyed more than 1,000 homes and 100,000 acres across the state in just the past week. Several branches of the YMCA also began hosting families with children, and a public school in Bastrop County opened its doors to serve as an emergency relief center.

See a YouTube video of a citizen's narrow escape around Highway 21 near Bastrop, Texas:

Federal agencies seize control on Tuesday

Hundreds of firefighters from all the surrounding counties worked two days and nights in a heroic effort to contain the fires, but high winds Sunday night and all day Monday thwarted their efforts. So the call went out for more volunteer firefighters to join the effort from across the state.

Before they arrived, however, the federal government showed up and claimed it was in charge of the situation. "Agents with the federal National Interagency Fire Center, a coalition of federal agencies including the U.S. Forest Service, assumed command of firefighting efforts Tuesday afternoon," reports The Gonzales Cannon ( [link to www.gonzalescannon.com]

RealNewsReporter.com is now reporting that volunteer firefighters who had in some cases driven all night to reach Bastrop county were turned away by the feds, who claimed that since local officials never made a "formal request" for volunteers, the volunteers could not be "activated."

So while Bastrop County burns from 40+ fires that are still raging, the federal government is actually telling volunteer firefighters to go home.

Other details on the fire

• Two fatalities have been reported so far: A young mother and her 18-month-old daughter were killed in Gladewater due to the wildfires there.

• Total property damage from the fire is now estimated at $100 million according to the Insurance Council of Texas. ( [link to www.csmonitor.com]

• Insurance companies have set up "claims camps" with large buses and tents to help the locals get their property claims handled. I personally saw several insurance industry buses on the North side of Highway 71 when we drove through.

• 85 fires are still burning across Texas. There is a rumor that at least one Texas fire was started by arson (the fire in Leander), but this has not been confirmed.

• Local churches have stepped up to provide aid, including the Ascension Catholic Church, Grace Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church.

• The winds died down significantly all day Tuesday, greatly slowing the spread of the fires. Low winds are also expected to hold out Wednesday. The severe drought conditions in Texas have made the state a fire tinderbox, and any wind over 5-10 mph could easily cause these fires to spread out of control once again (actually, they're still not even 10% contained, so they're not "in control" at all...)

• Rumor report: A DC-10 aircraft that has been retrofitted for firefighting has arrived in Bastrop County, according to reports on a Central Texas news radio station, but the plane will not be operational until Friday because of mandatory government "down time" restrictions on the flight crew. (Gee, is there nobody else who can fly a DC-10 in Texas? There were thousands of these planes in commercial operation over the past three decades... surely somebody can fly this hunk of steel, despite the fact that the hydraulics have no redundancy!)

Feds Take Over
Submitted by Anonymous on September 6, 2011 - 2:44pm.
That is the way they work. Feds hate working with volunteers because it makes their paperwork harder. They will contract with crews who have wildland "red cards" and a certification such as engine boss or sawyer. They fill their organizational chart with contracted crews who have done the paperwork in advance and have jumped through their hoops. They have a big book that has all of the different types resources that they need. They will use the federal crews first(USFS,BLM,tribal)then state, local government and private contractors. I know it sucks to be willing to give your efforts freely and be told that they don't need you. I've been there. I was the chief of a small combination fire department and after the first time we were tossed of a wildland fire (it was on tribal land), we got a contract before the next fire.
If you have a group such as the TNM who want to help beyond the initial attack and after Feds take over, get the paperwork from USFS or BLM or your state forestry, get everyone carded, and get organized. If you do not have engines or water tenders, you can be a hand crew. After knockdown, they use a lot of hand crews for mop-up and restoration. You can build a slide-in tank with pump to put in truck bed and three or four of you can be an engine crew. Two people can be a tender crew. The important thing is to get a contract in place at the start of the fire season.
Good luck.

Back in the old days, during the 40s and 50s ranchers had their own water tanks, banded together, and just put out the god damn fire. And yes, there were fires just like this one back in the day. Now its about MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. Just get People together and put the goddamn fire out you twits. But no. You see, the FED really doesnt want the fire out. Insurance companies will make a ton of money. AG agencies will further control the ranchers through "Aid programs" by the Government, and the sissy boys running the show of the forest service, and other parasitic agencies will get more toys to play with from all of this.

If they really wanted the fire out, and to save life and property, red tape goes out the window. You get around 5000 Men, water tanks, etc(you know the public has more gear then they do anyway), and you move on the fire and put the goddamn thing out.

But that is not the priority here now is it.

The feds have it under control. I cannot say who I am, nor make any "official" response but I am a high level insider with knowledge of the plan and why its being handled in the manner we are handling it.

Statisticians and Mathematicians with access to top level Satellite intel and sophisticated computer equipment have been briefed with Top Secret data and have determined the number of illegal aliens passing through this part of Texas on a daily basis.

By shutting off the water in 100 square miles and leaving only 2 strategic watering holes, we are confident that these Mexicans will drink at the watering holes and (if our calculations are correct) literally piss the fire out.

The amount of mexican piss this will take will be vast, but the sheer number of mexicans we get on an average day should be sufficient to , at the very least, saturate the ground and hold the fire at bay.

Yes, we will give them citizenship . The American people will gladly accept the mexicans once their value has been understood. No need to waste the lives of volunteer fire fighters who could be protecting their own town when we have perfectly good mexicans.

eventually we would like to tap this network of Illegals to be used for all manner of homeland security, disaster response and relief efforts.

Might be a long shot but has anyone thought that maybe the Feds took over the Texas wildfires because of Texas's governor, Rick Perry, who is running for President against Obama?
Might be a good way to get him to pull out of the Presidential race or at least side track him enough to lose votes, they are worried that Perry could win the nomination on the Republican ticket.
A big fire, with nobody fighting it, could do allot of damage and take up a governors time...
Just a thought...
Would never think the Democrats were that desperate to get rid of a contender by purposefully NOT CONTROLLING a large fire for their own political gain??

Interesting theory. But that sorry no good sonbitch needs to stay out of this. Everything he touches with his two forked tongue goes to shit. That is one of the reason why these fires are so bad in the first place. He is the moran who cut funding to brush management and controlled burns here in Texas, and put the money into more appropriate ventures that not only made him money, but other parasites in Austin and around the State. He has done everything he could to destroy Ranchers and farmers.

This fire would not even be a problem is the underbrush had been taken care of long ago. But now with it so dry, and so much dead wood, its all hell breaking loose.

He can take his boyfriends and go to DC for all I care, and then Texas secedes from the Union and handle on own shit as a model for everyone else to follow.

Again, we have the manpower. We have the resources. And we have the southern hospitality to band together when the chips are on the table. We dont need all of this scum fluffing up what we can do ourselves.

Its time for a real change in Texas, and hopefully this fire will be the beginning to get the fire under everyones seats to get with it, and take our State back.

My first thought was ... the Obama Administration, whether it is Obama directly or not, is trying to create a crisis in Texas, as a way to paint Gov. Perry's response as inadequate and incapable of handling the disaster.

Obama will be able to say he helped the Texans more than their own governor.

Just like Perry can say he created all of the jobs in U.S. the last month.
