ALERT - FEMA Forces Firefighters to Stand Down in Texas

In an outrageous repeat of Katrina, the federal government has moved into wildfire-stricken Texas and turned away firefighting trained volunteers who had converged on Bastrop and Smithville to combat the out of control flames.

According to The Gonzales Cannon, federal officials arrived at the scene and assumed command of the operation under the pretense “local officials never made a formal request for volunteers.”

FEMA is useless.. and they do not have officially capacity to take command here. Call in the girl scouts instead.. those that are not ill or dead from a forced vaccine.

It will be interesting to see how Perry reacts to this particular situation in comparison to Ron Paul.

Wildfires don't give f*ck about FEMA! The firefighters should throw the FEMA officials in the fires and let them burn!

Guess Richy Rich should be hiring some illegals to clear a fire break around the compound, huh?

Nah...That would make too much sense, be easily feasible, and not really cost that much...

This doesn't make Rick Perry look good...

Texas cut fire department funding by 75 percent this year

Under Gov. Rick Perry (R) this year, Texas slashed state funding for the volunteer fire departments that protect most of the state from wildfires like the ones that have recently destroyed more than 700 homes.

Well FEMA came today (or yesterday, not exactly sure) to asses the damage. I'm in Austin, by the way. So, since they'll now be paying for a lot of the relief efforts, I wonder if that effects their control of the situation?

Regardless, we need all the firefighters we can get. The massive fire in Bastrop is only 20% contained by this point in time.

And little random fires keep popping up for no reason, even in my neck of the woods - brush fires with no explanation. This event over the weekend is followed up by wildfires from earlier in the summer, too, it's really out of control. My brother's a firefighter, so I plan to pick his brain about all of this later on.

Yip, Perry is just a clown...

This is from May 2011 but worth mentioning...

Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), while taking millions in federal cash to combat epic wildfires, is now accusing President Obama of being overly generous to the victims of the catastrophic tornadoes in Alabama and neighboring states.

I could see that county is not that big.

Who is going to house and feed all those volunteers?

They brought equipment, did they bring tents and camping supplies, too?

Are they prepared to rough it out in the wilderness or are they going to need a hot bath and a warm meal and a bed?

Who's going to pay them? They probably have families or bills to pay...maybe that's why they weren't called out to help because someone carries the liability of being responsible for 3 hots and a cot plus pay?

Not many cities can afford that plus gas for their trucks, plus all the things needed to fight the fire and to keep the places that have recently burned from flaring up or sending sparks.

There's so much unknown.
Do we choose the incompetent gov't agency that may have a compentent agency beneath it and funds to pay for their services?

Do we become responsible for a bunch of people who paid a one-way trip to fight a fire and when it's over they are going to need compensation to recover from their lung injury, or physical injury, or to pay for bills they generated thinking they'd make more money while there, or pay for their food and board and once you are responsible for them if they get disgruntled you are fighting two fires...their attitudes and nature.

Just saying..there's a reason this is so.
