Local radar from NOAA. Expected flood totals to come. Just heard part of Binghamton is now being evacuated. Water is supposed to come over the flood wall tomorrow morning.

Which campus? I know the largest one is in State College, which is in Central Pa., but it looks like they're getting hit hard too.

Flooding in central and south central PA!

Looks like 'til at least tomorrow night with the heavier stuff, then just on and off rain through the weekend. Of course, that depends on what course Katia decides to take, though right now, it looks like it won't affect us.

And thanks. Those of us on the hillsides are okay for now. Most of the low laying areas are being evacuated though. Latest number is about 10,000. Doesn't sound like much, but when you have around 200,000 people total in all the surrounding area, suddenly that becomes a sizable minority, especially for an area that doesn't normally get hit this hard.

We have been getting lots of rain in nyc it has been on and off for two days and it is currently raining.

My mother lives in South Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The dikes will hold 41 ft and they are saying a crest of 38.5, but I think they are way off. Back in 72 when Agnes hit we had water in the second floor. Friend of mine works for the city and says they may evacuate in the morning. So far 50,000 mandatory evacuations.The more rain they get in New York the higher the Susquehanna will go

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling that they're not telling us something. They keep saying this may be worse than '06, but than keep giving us flood reports that are at least a foot lower than back then. Something is not right...

The one I do trust them on is the Susquehanna at Vestal, which they say may crest around 34 feet.

Thanks OP. I'm on the west coast of Florida. When you have to evacuate in water you must be very wary in traffic. Thousands of idiots that don't know what their doing or where their going. Watch it.

basements and some first floors flooding now, local amusement park flooded,

Just got another update, at 6am they will call for mandatory evacuations of wilkes barre. About 150,000 people. Now there looking at a 39.6 ft crest

Do you have some inside info? I was watching the news and saw the live press conference around 6:30, and notice you posted this a lot earlier. If you get anymore info, keep it coming please. I have family in Forty Fort and Kingston.

I'm in NEPA. Last summer the creeks were bone dry. This summer the rivers and creeks are as high as I've ever seen them. Crazy weather for sure.

Good morning everyone. Rain has stopped temporarily, though we have another batch moving in from the south in about an hour or so. The water is now less than a foot from breaching the flood wall in the city of Binghamton. An updated forecast states that the Susquehanna in Owego will reach 32-34 feet, and at Vestal it's still going to be around 34 feet.

Most of the low laying areas are evaced. Apparently, the shelters in the area right are packed, including Binghamton University's Events Center. Will post more as I hear it.

230 is blocked, 441 blocked, front st, rt 22 in low spots, 322, 741.....147, 11/15.....theyve hadda close schools too - some locals get cant get home.

Pretty much the same situation here. Owego has one road leading in and out of it right now, unless you cut up to Syracuse and cut down I90 (a trip of about 3 hours in total).
Town of Maine is basically an island, with Rt. 26 and 38B washed out and 17c from the Town of Union to Glenn Aubry being flooded, etc.

Damn this sound alarming!

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid traveling unless it is absolutely necessary. Travel after nightfall is also strongly discouraged since the depth of water on roads may be difficult to determine.
