Why buy into this?

Isn't it classic by now. A guy comes in, speaks about "Nobody" or "Hey I'm John Titor". Brings about a couple of pages.

All of a sudden he has to go somewhere. I mean at this point - do I need to spell this out for you? At this point we already know how this story ends.

What happens next? Let the crowd add up these pages. Starting to "believe". Then OP check back - or never check back, like OP on the Nobody-thread did (he didn't have to, since people kept commenting his enigmatic phoney story).
