Conservatives, why no John Huntsman?

You said it yourself. Huntsman is so liberal he should be a Dem. Can't understand why he is even on the same stage as the GOP contenders, not that they are actually conservatives either.

I don't agree with all of his policies, I'm a unique "liberal," but I do on some things, which is more than I could say about Bachmann or Gingrich or Romney. The other candidates are rabid. Huntsman at least looks and sounds like a mainstream winner.

Simple. If Huntsman is acceptable to an admitted liberal kind of guy like yourself, then he is VERY unacceptable to most people who consider themselves conservative. I consider myself conservative and don't agree with any of the contenders 100%, but there is one guy whose policies I agree with absolutely....unfortunately, I am not running......

My question makes perfect sense. Why can't someone who better represents the American people get support from the conservative base? Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann, Cain, Pawlenty and Perry don't stand much of a chance because their views are too far right. If the eventual winner comes forward with a plan to abolish something wildly popular like social security or medicare, they'd lose. Just my two cents.
