Exactly. Thanks for reading! Seems very scary that one simple "mistake" took out power to that large of an area. I can see now why they were warning us about the weaknesses in our power grid...

No way, I smell a rat here, isn't that a HV substation?? (sorry I am crap at remembering the variances in voltage for HV and LV) I can't imagine the infrastructure over there is any different to ours in OZ and there are so many fail safes engineered in, particularly as reliability of transmission is a key consideration in design. Wonder if there are any high voltage electrical engineers on GLP who can give an opinion.... Any word on what the procedure was he was carrying out?

Any one know what sort of substation this is? All I can find on line is that's it's a HV transmission substation so it surely wouldn't affect the LV transmission or is there a switching station further on that's affected?...Gah! It's annoying me I'm going to have to keep googling it and see what infrastructure is further on the line. It just doesn't sound right. I agree OP you might be on to something there.

This just dosen't seem possible that one person could have caused all of these outages and also the nuclear power plant was shut down automaticaly. Maybe it was a squirrel that was walking on the power lines, I just don't get it something not right with this story !
