HellsBells User ID: 1540042 Australia 09/09/2011 08:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No way, I smell a rat here, isn't that a HV substation?? (sorry I am crap at remembering the variances in voltage for HV and LV) I can't imagine the infrastructure over there is any different to ours in OZ and there are so many fail safes engineered in, particularly as reliability of transmission is a key consideration in design. Wonder if there are any high voltage electrical engineers on GLP who can give an opinion.... Any word on what the procedure was he was carrying out? Quoting: HellsBells Yea, I either see a huge lie here, and this really was caused by terrorists and they just dont want the sheeple to know. Or, the power grid is really in trouble. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1495269 United States 09/09/2011 09:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So you're telling me one, I repeat ONE person caused this whole outage?? Quoting: chaakin Read here: [link to thatmrgguy.wordpress.com] The North Gila-Hassayampa 500 kV transmission line near Yuma, Ariz. was tripped offline when a single APS employee was carrying out a procedure in the North Gila substation, according to Arizona Power Service. If the power grid is this fragile we're all :doom: ed! Let me guess - he hit a "T" instead of a "B", right? |

HellsBells User ID: 1540042 Australia 09/09/2011 09:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any one know what sort of substation this is? All I can find on line is that's it's a HV transmission substation so it surely wouldn't affect the LV transmission or is there a switching station further on that's affected?...Gah! It's annoying me I'm going to have to keep googling it and see what infrastructure is further on the line. It just doesn't sound right. I agree OP you might be on to something there. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1541989 United States 09/09/2011 10:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This just dosen't seem possible that one person could have caused all of these outages and also the nuclear power plant was shut down automaticaly. Maybe it was a squirrel that was walking on the power lines, I just don't get it something not right with this story ! |
