Here on the homestead, rabbits and chickens routinely meet their demise. Killing is my least favorite part of animal husbandry, but what you see here with the camel is the same exact way that chickens are dispatched, even on small family owned farms like Joel Salatin's Polyface Farm. That's simply the way it is.

I suspect that most of you are grossed out by the amount of blood coming out of the camel. Many times that blood is saved and used for sausages and as a thickener. (I can hear the "ewww gross" coming from the Peanut Gallery already.)

Please if this disturbs you, feel free to no longer eat meat, whether it's something you get from your grocery store or from the Halal or Kosher markets. Even humanely raised animals have to die for you to eat their carcasses.

They who feel sorry for the camel and condemn muslims for "being so cruel", should see this, to understand what i was saying at the bottom of page 1 of this thread.

If the animals are put to sleep first would that cause less suffering? would it effect the taste of the meat?

Basically the whole process needs to go quickly in my opinion. You need to knock the animal out and cut the neck and let it bleed out in a short period of time.

Unfortunately in the factory environment, quotas need to be met because money is on the line, so things are not always done as humanely and quickly as we'd like. Not to mention other problems like poor, crowded living conditions.

Definitely the OP is running propaganda here. Slaughter is not a beautiful process no matter how you look at it, but it happens everywhere around the world, and as you can see form the video in the OP, the animal doesn't look like it was neglected and beat or anything like that and the slaughter was done quickly.

I still think the animals should be unconscious when they cut the neck however.

I also hope that anyone who eats meat isn't caught being a total hypocrite when judging people about animal slaughter.
