Key California legislators passing an anti-parent bill grabbed campaign financing from the gigantic Merck conglomerate, a CalWatchDog.com investigation revealed. The legislation is AB 499 by Assemblywoman Toni Atkins, D-San Diego. In the bill’s language, it “authorizes a minor, who is 12 years of age or older, to consent to medical care related to the prevention of a sexually transmitted disease.”

Current law allows such care only with a parent’s permission. AB 499 passed both houses of the Legislature and awaits a decision by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Solution? Be a better parent.

And homeschool.

I home school.

But this is horrible if it happens, letting kids be persuaded to take vaccinations without parental consent for anything is just WRONG.

Bills like that make it OBVIOUS that they know what they are doing is WRONG! When you don't want the parents to know you are doing something to their child that is as good as an open admission of guilt!...and 12 year old girls are not fit to make that kind of adult decision without parental guidance!

Gentlemen:

Take it from experience. If someone "faints, falls, shakes and becomes stiff" that is a tonic-clonic seizure. If it is following an immunization, your child probably now has a seizure disorder from a reaction in the brain to the toxins in the immunization.

Our government is well aware that some children who have immunizations will suffer from seizure disorders for their life time -- but they have decided that the chance is about 4% and for 96% of the population things will work out.

If your child happens to be one of the 4/100 -- tough luck to you.

They should, however, label "fainting, shaking, becoming stiff" what is really is: Seizures. Call a spade a spade.

I agree, but until we have that, taking your kids out of school is an option to consider...especially since the public school system is so messed up.

I think they described the symptoms rather than saying "seizure" for emphasis, and it's implied but you're right - it should be clarified.

I'm just so shocked that they think it's okay to override parental control in this issue. It makes me very angry.

How will they explain when they call you and you have to go to the hospital because your child had an immediate seizure and had to be taken in an ambulance.

"sorry, but your daughter decided to sign up for the free ipod by getting a Gardasil shot and she just fell down 15 minutes later"

Absolutely not..little girls are not old enough to vote...why in the hell would they let them decide on a serious medical issue. What if that little girl doesn't know about something in her medical history....mff...like they'll ask the kids about medical history! This is disgusting...

Is the little girl old enough to sign the disclaimer? - well, there SHOULD be a disclaimer!!!!!

What on earth kind of logic says that a medical illness prevention administered to the healthy, that causes seizures, is an acceptable and harmless course of action? If a disclaimer had been signed then the risks would be of no responsibility to the vaccine administrator. However, as it looks like a young girl was coerced into taking this vaccine, I think there are grounds to sue.

We can't have governments taking over this kind of choice - the choice to harm children. My goodness, if anyone else so much as injures the hair on the head of a child they would be up in court on charges.

I raised 6 children and I home schooled them all after my oldest 3 had been in the public school system for a few years. This was back in the '80's'.

I was educated quickly on the disgusting power the 'system' has over our children.

When I would fight against their policies I met with some frightening information.

I contacted a lawyer who was also on the school board for another district and he told me (this again was in the 1980's) that we, as parents, have no rights. Our children had/have rights, but as parents, we only have responsibility.

This was a frightening wake-up call and I began home schooling.

They have made it much more difficult to home school these days....they do not want children home schooled.
