I spent a couple of years prospecting in northern Ontario, and lived much of that in tents, even when it was -40 in the winter. You just need a good diesel oil stove. If you have a wood stove, it goes out around 3:00 AM and it sucks to get out of your 5 star sleeping bag to add more wood.
There are squatters in Yellowknife, NWT who live year round in tents and it gets to -60 there.
The last time I lived in a tent- ( a sukkah or cloth walled booth with a palm branch roof actually) was October 2000 in Jerusalem. That was a religious thing. The sukkah was in the wife's backyard, we had a nice bed with a down comforter, decorations, pillows, candles... it was very romantic except the Intifada had just broken out and you could hear the gunfire from Bethlehem.
I lived in tents at summer camp too, but they had wooden floors. In the army we were in tents too, but I don't call that living.
