tranny witch User ID: 1432972 Canada 09/27/2011 10:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I spent a couple of years prospecting in northern Ontario, and lived much of that in tents, even when it was -40 in the winter. You just need a good diesel oil stove. If you have a wood stove, it goes out around 3:00 AM and it sucks to get out of your 5 star sleeping bag to add more wood. There are squatters in Yellowknife, NWT who live year round in tents and it gets to -60 there. The last time I lived in a tent- ( a sukkah or cloth walled booth with a palm branch roof actually) was October 2000 in Jerusalem. That was a religious thing. The sukkah was in the wife's backyard, we had a nice bed with a down comforter, decorations, pillows, candles... it was very romantic except the Intifada had just broken out and you could hear the gunfire from Bethlehem. I lived in tents at summer camp too, but they had wooden floors. In the army we were in tents too, but I don't call that living. 2011 may be your last chance for panic sex with a she-male |

I reaallllly enjoyed it and would do it again but this time i'd prefer to live in a small cabin or van instead. cougars and bears are a big problem here as well as the feet of precipitation every month for tents. |

surfstone User ID: 9262087 United States 01/21/2012 02:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I made no money in teaching but took odd jobs in construction as i had done that for almost 20 years. I was 38 at the time and lived very well in my tent. I had a solar shower set up, a propane bbq grill, a 12 volt inverter run off of my old 1991 suv to run electric. if you are familiar with the hebrew scriptures (the old testement) of the Bible. once a year in Jerusalem was the festival of booths were all would gather and live in a tent-like structure for a week, there are several festivals in ancient life but i always thought this one would be the best to attend... it was to remind the nation of isreal of how they all once lived in a tent and were all equall. I think the world could benifit from being put in the same life for a week again. Maybey we could get along. I doubt it tho, politicians are forever ignorant |
bordercolliepatriot User ID: 4606260 United States 01/21/2012 02:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well I have lived in a van, and a RV. The van wasn't so bad used the beach showers when we were down in Florida. Yes I was working at the time. The problem today is people choose style over substance. Almost a year ago after several states and many crazy adventures along the way, we bought a great big ole farmhouse in Kansas via Ebay. We've been remodeling it ever since, and trying to build up a self-sustainable way of living. We installed a wood burning cook stove (LOVE IT!!!!) a fireplace and bought a few more wood burning stoves for additional heating if needed. We have the solar system ready to go in. We have successfully cut our expenses down to a manageable level and have lots more room and freedom to boot. Don't get me wrong at times it is hard but it's worth it. I don't see anything wrong with living in a tent, there were times I considered getting a military tent and setting up shop in the desert. Hey where there is a will there is a way. In this world you have the sheep and you have the wolves. Than there are the sheepdogs who protect the sheep from the wolves. Border Collie ;) @-^-- |

Mycelium User ID: 9265483 United States 01/21/2012 03:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | During warmer months, my family lives in a tent. We spent most of summer and Fall in a tent, moving around the West. We landed in N. Utah, where Winter doesn't lend well to that kind of living (we have 3 small kids). It's not as hard as you imagine. In other ways, though, it's harder. The stuff you miss is never what you would expect. Toilet? No. Magazines to read while shitting? Yes. I definitely suggest a canvas tent. I use a Springbar tent by Kirkham. They are local to SLC, but, having been a camper all my life and a bit of a gypsy for ten or so years, I can agree with their statement that this is the best tent made in America. It isn't, however, suited to trekking or backpacking. The biggest thing I learned is this: keep water always boiling. Everything begins with boiling water. Wanna drink? Boil water. Wanna make dinner. Start with boiling water. Want to bathe? Boil water. Laundry? Boil water. It never freaking ends......and breakfast takes two hours. Other than the boiling water, most any thing can be endured... Only camping out makes you feel at ease, and free. My last camp out was a disaster though, and i lost all my gear It will take ages to replace it all.Camping is best enjoyed by family members that dont love to eat all your emergency rations in one night, and spoil the fun by arguing about how boring it is. |

I hate putting them up and taking them down. They are best if placed next to your fancy motorhome. Just good for sleeping. They don't make tents like they used to. My first tent lasted 35 to 40 years and after that it was downhill, leaking after just a few campouts. They don't make them like they used to. |

Not paying rent you can afford so much. The weather is always beautiful it rains but thats what tarps are for. There is plenty of room here on the big island and maui not so much on oahu. If you can leave your mainland ideas behind you will fit right in. Food can be reasonable and there is plenty of fruit that grows oon the trees here like avacado mango and once you become local you will find that prices for alot of things are not that bad. So if you want to live in paradise and are up for an adventure buy a one way ticket and come with an open mind. |

I'm 29 and this divorce has kind of got me all loony. Last week I packed up as much of my stuff into a 6x12 u-haul trailer and my Trailblazer and abandoned 2 other cars and i'd say about 80% of my possessions at the house I was renting. Don't know what the hell to do now because I can't afford another month for my storage unit (I got a $35 move in special but 2nd month is going to be $225) I can sell most of the shit in my storage unit for cash but the problem is I'm 100 miles up the coast staying at my parent's summer home. I've got less than $200 TO MY NAME. Anyone got any ideas? Quoting: BeginAgain Wahaha u are so fucked |
