THE SEARCH FOR TRUTH, MEANING, AND PURPOSE IN LIFE.
IS JUST THAT. A SEARCH. AN UNENDING AND CONTINUING SEARCH.

Why?

Because they don't exist.

They may exist for each individually but that is because people each and individually ascribe labels to what they consider to be truth, meaning and purpose in their life.

But they are not the same for everybody. They can change for the individual throughout their lives. And they don't exist as absolutes to be attained, as much as the religiously affected might exhort us to "believe".

TRUTH doesn't exist. It is relative at best. Relative to the individual and what they might hold as true for them at a given place and time. Truth is what works as truth for each but does not have to work for all. Ergo: truth is relative. it is what we decide is true.

MEANING doesn't exist. Things mean what they mean given our shared and accepted definitions of meaning might be as a culture. but nothing means anything in and of itself. And moreover, there is no meaning to events in our lives, as much as the sometimes eerie timing and synchronicity might lead one to believe - which is a product of the primitive mind which believes that there is a god who causes the events in our lives to "tell us something" - when, what we fail to take into account is the influence of past lives, karma, and our subconscious, both individual and collective as they might influence events - not to mention collective karma and our individual soul plans which we cannot know expressly but which have a major influence on producing conditions which produce the events that we have already chosen to experience in ways to learn what we came here to learn.

PURPOSE doesn't exist, except and again only insofar as we believe it does - but there is no set or universal purpose to our life and certainly no ubiquitous task master intending us to do or to behave according to its dictates, thus ascribing a purpose to our lives (to satisfy a higher "will" if you will.) It isn't so. More primitive hogwash. But it is a hard one to let go as people's egos demand that they are fulfilling a divine plan in each and every moment of their lives. How trite.

Going back to MEANING, our soul has a life plan which we act out wittingly or unwittingly - and insofar as that, it might be said we have a "purpose" in that we have a mission, if you will - but - on the larger question of overall purpose - there is none. There is no purpose to life. It has an embedded function - to be and to continue. But it is automatic and beyond any specific purpose - and no one is pulling any strings behind the scenes to direct it in any particular way or fashion.

Re: THE SEARCH FOR TRUTH, MEANING, AND PURPOSE IN LIFE.
Last night it occurred to me that for everyone pondering these questions, preoccupied with their personal existential crisis of the moment, that there are countless others, sitting in their little boxes, at that same moment.. perhaps millions of others at that same moment, pondering the same thing. And all of them wondering who knows the answers. And likely nobody does.

I found that incredibly soothing, and almost funny.

It kinda takes the sting out of it, knowing it's not personal.
Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid,
it is true that most stupid people are conservative.

Because it is easier to give someone the finger than a helping hand.
