Jerichofall User ID: 1316155 Australia 09/11/2011 07:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Among what I've learnt in that time is this - God calls his people by faith. Sure He can give you some encouragement and what I call 'markers' along the way, but truth is He is not trying to prove His existence to you right now (or He would do it and nothing could stop Him). He might give people the 'tap on the shoulder', but ultimately He's looking for people who want to find Him. Not a scientific answer as such, but this is how I look at it now. I saw a vid that was posted somewhere here recently that debunked the theory of evolution brilliantly. There is evidence, but you have to want to look to find it. Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: It doesn't say 'play X-Box and you shall find'. Good luck friend Matt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: Ruth 1:1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. |

Hey ZUES User ID: 1228077 United States 09/11/2011 08:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jesus was a dude that had no fear. Had some real fucking ideas and some bastards say fuck this dude he speaks too much real shit. Lets kill the guy. So Jesus has no Fear okay. Lets just say Jesus was just an average guy like us,but he had no FEAR he pretty much can roam the land like he is the shit. Except he is like ya know I need to tell people not to FEAR shit. Perhaps he smoked some good shit saw something and fell in LOVE with the world an wanted to help it. Except they called him crazy and delusional. When they stuck him on that so called cross he was in a meditative mind stay,he had no fear. He thus rose from the state and continued on to spread the message of LOVE. The book? Anonymous Coward User ID: 1544756 Australia 09/11/2011 08:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've learnt some interesting stuff here, cheers. I've always thought that a person called Jesus probably did exist, but he was some sort of confidence trickster. Seriously, why have humans always needed to worship something? Are some of us so feeble minded that we are unable to form our own opinions and need to be told what to think? Religion = mind control for the masses. That goes for all religions, nothing special about christianity. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1536126 United States 09/11/2011 12:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 1)If the whole thing is really so wonderful, why haven't you always believed it??? Fools. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1544756 2)Seriously, why have humans always needed to worship something? Are some of us so feeble minded that we are unable to form our own opinions and need to be told what to think? 1) Is that your capacity for logical deduction? FAIL! 2) Did the Gospel of Christ focus on "worshiping" Christ? Did Christ make everyone kiss his feet? NO! You know nothing of Christ's message. This thread has clearly shown there is proof of Christ outside of the NT. If Christ lived, he also died on the Cross, and was resurrected. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1538215 United States 09/11/2011 12:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This isn't to question whether or not he is divine, but whether or not he truly existed. My wife and I had a disagreement about this today. Quoting: Semantics What say you? Yes the real historical Jesus did. The "Jesus Christ" the church made up did not. The real Jesus taught that animal sacrifice had been edited into the Torah of Moses, and all his followers were vegetarians who rejected animal sacrifice but kept the rest of the law. And Paul was his arch enemy and the enemy of the entire Jesus movement. (You can see why BOTH sides would cover this up!) i actually believe there might be some truth in the above based on my research...if you read between the lines of the canonical gospels....and if you research the group at Qumran, the historical pieces start coming together. |

Daniel's Seventieth Seven User ID: 1071051 United States 09/11/2011 02:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As asked earlier. Quoting: Daniel's Seventieth Seven 1071051 Why do you care? What is it that you have to waste? I care because I care for truth. Thats the difference between the religious and the not.. one cares for the truth, one cares for the feeling. Thanks for your reply OP. But, to imply that 'religious' people don't care for the truth seems to be a stretch. Humble opinion: There is some incredible wisdom with the words attributed to Jesus. Wouldn't you at least agree with that? Is there some harm caused to you by following His teaching? ? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1499877 United States 09/11/2011 03:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is my considered belief that Jesus of the first century who is depicted in the gospels did not actually exist, but that the story in the gospels is a composite god/savior who was put together by the Romans in the 4th century to be the man-god-savior-central figure of the new Universal (Catholic) religion. There is some historical evidence that a Hebrew/Jewish prophet did exist in the 100 BCE era, and he could be part of the composite we call Jesus. But it was the Romans under Emperor Constantine who actually created Jesus and forced him to be worshipped world-wide. No surprise the religion is so widespread today. Any religion would if it was forced on people by a powerful empire such as Rome and its successor the Roman Catholic Church. ------------------ The Historical Evidence for Jesus by G.A. Wells In this thoroughly researched study, G.A. Wells has squarely faced the question of whether a man named Jesus lived, preached, healed, and died in Palestine during the early years of the first century of the Christian era - or indeed, at any time. Building on the biblical studies of Christian theologians, Dr. Wells soberly demonstrates that we have no reliable eyewitnesses to the events depicted in the New Testament. He publicizes a fact known to theological scholars but little-known in the average Christian congregation: that the order of books of the New Testament is not an accurate chronological arrangement. Indeed, Paul, who never saw Jesus, wrote his epistles to early Christian congregations before the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John were written. It may come as a great surprise to Christians and other monotheists, to agnostics, atheists, and humanists alike, that "the earliest references to the historical Jesus are so vague that it is not necessary to hold that he ever existed; the rise of Christianity can, from the undoubtedly historical antecedents, be explained quite well without him; and reasons can be given to show why, from about A.D. 80 or 90, Christians began to suppose that he had lived in Palestine about fifty years earlier."
