To actually measure the distance from the Comet to the Sun is beyond the technology of amateur equipment. You would need clear images from Nasa's stereo satelites which we aren't privy to, we will never know if the position has changed unless TPTB tell us.

The real danger in the whole Elenin saga will be the alignment between Elenin and Earth on the 26-27/9/2011, it is confirmed by Soho and Stereo that we are seeing huge CME's daily in the direction of Elenin.

Unless the periods between the CME eruptions start to lengthen chances are one will let go on the day of alignment putting us square in the bullseye.

If they shorten we may get more than one!

As for false flag operations. They won't carry one out in the USA on such a day of hightened awareness too many chances of them being caught out.
