I'm pretty sure this was posted last night, but worth a second read anyways

They found a planet, wich is in the life zone....nothing special, they find them more often.

This is to get more funding, if it was of real importance, they would've told today.

Ah but this is one of those cases that might show you people that NASA is not the only club in town.

This is an European Observatory.. what does nasa have to do with them?

So anyway the last big astronomy announcement was that finding of a planet via it's gravitational effects.. that was pretty neat, so let's see if this Major one can beat that.

Perhaps they will announce a finding of earth sized goldilocks-zoned planets? That would be awesome, as we could then focus on it to see if we can tell what elements are present and if there's an atmosphere and so on.

Guy from Netherlands above said that's the case, another goldilocks planet.. well it will have to be fairly earth-sized to be major, perhaps!

On Monday 12 September 2011, astronomers will report significant new results in the field of exoplanets, obtained with the High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher, better known as HARPS, the spectrograph on ESO's 3.6-metre telescope at La Silla Observatory in Chile.
