The modern day one is vertical rainbow bars like this.. [link to fc08.deviantart.net] Pray this prayer to blind Satan: [link to flameoflove.us (secure)] |

Vision Thing User ID: 1545029 United States 09/11/2011 12:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I always think of some legend where the Aztecs or some SW American Indians said that when their lost white brothers returned, they should look at the symbol they carried, if it was the "whole" Indian cross with the circle around it, it would be okay, but if the cross was "broken", didn't have the circle, then something was wrong and they should be vigilant. I'm sure I butchered that in the telling but I thought the distinction made was relevant. Anyway my understanding of the cross symbol is that it represents the vertical line of spirit (imagination) intersecting with the horizontal line of the physical, and the point where they cross is the place where new things, new energy, new ideas can become physically present and active in the world, flowing from imagination, made real by our efforts in the world to implement our dreams and flesh them out. When you draw a circle around it, it focuses it more? Something to think about. At this time our cultural symbols are open to individual interpretation. We need a new set of myths and a new set of symbols which would be ever-evolving and flexible, we need new meanings that can encompass new experiences and new feelings. New kinds of events to take us beyond everyday ordinary accepted reality which at this point is quite worn out, distorted, dysfunctional and BORING. |

The sacred medicine wheel takes the form of a cross within a circle and was in widespread use among native peoples in SW America when the Spanish arrived. It represents the four directions and the the four races balanced in harmony none dominating the others. |
