DREAMS: A window into Alternate Realities? Come read my WEIRD one!!!!

There is a theory I've read a few places that some or all of our dreams are actually windows into our lives in alternate realities. I've never thought much about it until this morning.

Last night I had a vivid dream that was so strange I wanted to share it. Sorry for it being so long.

I was in a strange looking house, it was conventional except for the door frames were rounded at the top and that was how all the houses in the neighbourhood were. The trees were different then ours here but only subtly so. The windows were not see through but opaque.

I found myself on a couch (more of a bean bag couch, strange) and I remember being on the couch and feeling like I was physically there and experiencing it. I rubbed the material and really felt it. A strange man was looking at me from the bathroom telling me "I think it's going to start soon, I hope no one figures it out"

I walk over and there in the bathroom was a young girl, she looked 8 but I knew she was almost 12. Her skin was very pale and you could see her veins underneath. I knew she was my daughter. I knew that she was on the brink of her first period and we were protecting her from our relatives. This man was very homely and overweight and when he touched me I knew he was my husband. I moved away from him and sensed his confusion but I was revolted by his touch.

I was reassuring the child she was fine, telling her about my experience with my first period, etc. Then there were people at the door. I walk out and there is my mother (don't know how I knew it was her but I knew) and she's telling me they must come in and see the child. I refuse and tell her if she pushes this further and if ANYONE touches her I will leave the order forever. (I don't know what the order is but it was clear to me that the order was dying and whatever tradition this was was one of the obviously controversial ones). She took me at my word and the other people behind her were discussing how they would respect my wishes. But none of them leave.

Before returning to the house I ask my mother "How did I meet him?" referring to my husband. She looks utterly confused and looks at me like I am insane. I go back into the house. The entire time I am aware that this is a world, this is not a dream, and this is me and my life. At the end of the dream I look in the mirror and see myself. I am not identical to how I really look but I am close enough. My hair is blonde and I am a bit leaner but I am me nonetheless.

The dream freaked me out. I'm sure I've just bored a whole lot of you but maybe someone can offer me some insight. The whole time I just had this overwhelming feeling that this was real. I do not know what they were going to do with my daughter I just know the first person to touch her after her first blood would have some kind of control over her.
