Kit Kat User ID: 994 United States 09/29/2005 07:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I´m not sure if that´s exactly what I had, but I tore something in my shoulder, and it was extremely painful until it healed. I take MSM as a supplement, and it helped me to heal, when some people were suggesting surgery. |

Kit Kat User ID: 994 United States 09/29/2005 07:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think it´s better to let it heal naturally, because it will, sooner or later. MSM does help a lot with muscle tears, and general healing. I recommend it to those with muscle tears and sprains; actually, to anyone that needs to heal. This MSM is an abbreviation for a natural element normally found in fresh fruits and vegetables, but is not widely available via natural foods because of the denaturing of our soil, and having conventionally grown foods sometimes grown as GM foods, etc. |
Pollyannuh (OP) User ID: 104 United States 09/29/2005 07:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | KitKat, I was just going to ask you what MSM is and you posted that info. Where is it available? A.C. 1369, I´m leery of operations, myself, and would rather go another route if it´s available. What did the both of you do? Any physical therapy? Do you both have full range of movement now? Thanks for any help. |
Pollyannuh (OP) User ID: 104 United States 09/29/2005 07:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Also, this hurts so badly, I can´t find pain relief, and am constantly nauseous because of the pain. I don´t want to take the 500 mg Motrin or the Naproxin the doc gave me. And, I can´t find a comfortable postion for sleep. Any suggestions? |

Pollyannuh (OP) User ID: 104 United States 09/29/2005 08:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A.C. 78, I´m looking at websites about this right now, and I came across a sentence that said something like, "...the patient should be aware of the probability of slow recovery." I don´t have that kind of time to be down! This is awful. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 26377 United States 09/29/2005 08:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yup. Am finishing PT now.... tore ligament to a/c and blew ( tore) cuff... am hypermobile to begin with and my shoulder is still unstable but Prolo ( see: ProLo Therapy ---or the book: ProLo Your Sports injuries Away) and PT and mobic ( med) are stabilizing my shoulder and keeping me off the spur which developed and impinged the nerve. My ortho originally thought I´d need surgery. I told him I wanted to go another route, first. I am a woman, athletic and have allready done surgery ( back) . Surgery often causes more issues than it remedies. Yup--- the pain was and occassionally still is intense--- ICE- like crazy . At night? Stay off that shoulder. Good luck.... you can heal and I´d give prolo a try....really accelerated my healing ! |
Pollyannuh (OP) User ID: 104 United States 09/29/2005 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A.C. 1474, thank you for that information. I´ll look up that prolo. I´ve been using ice and a heating pad, whichever feels better at the time. Should I imobilize my shoulder in a sling? I forgot to ask the doc, darnit. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 26377 United States 09/29/2005 09:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe that now they don´t recommend it as it can encourage "frozen shoulder" and weaken muscles. I was told to keep my arm . forarm, next to my body , tight - with arm and hand positioned no higher than elbow....very much like it would be if it were in a sling.... de-conditioning or developing weakness from having too much assistance won´t help either.... I have to say- I have a high pain threshold but this shoulder injury had me feeling like I had a paw in a steel trap at times.... feel better ! |

Pollyannuh (OP) User ID: 104 United States 09/30/2005 02:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don´t know whether to just give in and bawl or bang my other shoulder for some counter-irritation. The pain is incredible. The long and short of it is that I have an appointment on Tuesday with a highly reccomended othopedic doc and I´m hoping to discuss alternatives to surgery. Everything I´m hearing and reading about the surgery indicates a long recup period and lots more pain. Sigh... |
