Check with your referances to see if they were contacted and asked about you. Thats always a good sign.

introductions to staff is a good sign.

keep in mind that most places are understaffed so don't hold the interviewer to a hard date...and don't bug them. but do follow up 1-2 days after the return date promised, and then ask when you should follow up again.

Make sure you pay off your references. :-)

It needs to be hand delivered to the receptionist ---they may have already made a decision before snail mail gets there.

It is a good idea to always do this right after your appointment.

Did you "ask for the job"?
Something like 90% of interviewees never formally ask to be hired. They show up, do the interview, might even e-mail or snail mail thanking them for their time...
But they NEVER friggin say..." I'd like to formally ask that I be hired for this position".

I know it sounds silly, but my wife is a VP for a large company and is over HR. She knows about these things.

Also, interviewers sometimes pause for a REALLY LOONG time during an interview to see how you handle yourself under pressure. Sometimes they'll ask a question, you'll answer...

And they'll just stare at you. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WILL START BLABBING...

call and beg for the job like this:

Hey, Potential Indentured Servant!

Did they drop the bombshell on you yet? That is to say did they mention that you will be prostituting yourself for a wage that you cannot live on?

Did they mention that you are going to pay the majority of the costs of your benefits yourself...out of pocket?

How long is your "probation" period? Get it? Probation period.

Finally, If this position is a salaried job, you are totally and utterly fucked. You WILL be at work a minimum of 60+ hours per week...or else. Eventually those hours will be INCREASED. Another thing. DO NOT expect your wage to keep up with the rate of inflation.

Also, watch your back. There will be devils, and demons who will be ready and waiting to devour your mind, self esteem, health and soul.

if they said you were qualified AND introduced you to the staff then you're good, if it was a no then they wouldve said that they would keep you posted, shook your hand and you wouldve just left like that, plus it wouldnt have lasted 40 mins, more like 10 or 15 maybe 20 at the most.

Actually why bother? Hopefully you prepared with guns and ammo because I don't think it's long before the revolution begins. Thinking this really means that people just stop paying for homes underwater, credit cards, taxes, traffic tickets, and insurance.

Those sort of questions are usually posed by kids that have never had a job in their life, they sit at they computers all day munching on pizza and sipping cola out of a straw and then around 7pm, their mummy usually tells them to get to bed they have school tomorrow.
