Yes as noted in the original post. Some items (such as first aid or wild foraging) I only want in dead tree format, with PDF backups.

However, to print ALLLLLLLLL of this would cost literally thousands, would take weeks (months?) to print, would be very bulky/heavy and vulnerable to wetting.

I advise you to to print the most important books, in multiple copies. Use a portable device and small solar charger for the rest. Multiples of those for redundancy.
