The official story was that they buoy was malfunctioning. However, after repairs it still keeps doing this occassionally. Interestingly, another one off the south west coast of NZ has also been going into event mode often this year, and now one off Oregon is doing the same. The Oregon could be near the ongoing underwater volcanic eruption, which could suggest the same is going on in these other two regions, imho. |

However, there was only a 4.9 yesterday, instead of the 7's they have been having lately. You would think one of the bigger ones would trigger the buoy and not a much smaller one. Magma is on the move in that whole area. It has been active for as long as us whitey's have been in the south pacific, and rather than slowing down, is showing signs of ramping up. The Vanuatu volcano, and the volcanic islands to the north of it, are the greatest threat to our north eastern coastline. For our south eastern coastline, the volcanic activity from New Zealand and the Kermedec Islands (a string of active underwater volcanos) are the source of our tsunami threat. |
