The study test levels of phthalates in 404 women. Only 188 came back after birth. Of those, they were asked to fill out questionnaires regarding the perception of their child's behavior and development (subjective).

My wife is a pediatric nurse, she does 20-30 pediatric examines a day during the back-to-school rush. She is not allowed to diagnose, but can make recommendations or suggest medical consults for potential issues, be them physiological, anatomical, dietary or behavioral. Likewise, the parents can ask her about issues they have regarding the aforementioned categories and their child.

Most don't concern themselves with the FACT that the average child is overweight. Many times they tell my wife how they ply their children with "junk" food and candy to help deal with their behavioral issues.

Many will debate and second-guess concerns my wife might have with their growth, hearing, sight or hygiene.

Some don't follow-up with their pediatrician or pcp, as recommended for potentially dangerous issues observed by my wife.

Nearly half of the parents will ask about their child's behavior, suggesting they might have ADD, and ask if they should be medicated when by national standards they are acting or behaving appropriately for their age.

Since the study turned out to be somewhat subjective, and certainly not tested and based on the potential for parents to suggest "normal" behavior is "hyperactive".

It is theoretically safe to suggest that the study is far from accurate.

My six year old grand daughter fits the clinical profile and was subsequently diagnosed as having ODD/ADHD.

I might add, there is no cure for ODD. No medicine for ODD. And it is theorized that 10% will go on to manifest conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder.

The only thing I disagree with is that it can be outgrown. You're personality is well established by the time you are six.

Day to day life with that child was an absolute horror show nightmare. I would have turned her over to state custody.

My son, who is now 21, was diagnosed with both ADHD/ODD when he was 5. It seems as though each year was another obstacle and diagnoses. Autistic Spectrum, Bipolar II, Brain seizures are among some of the other health problems. If it wasn't for his meds, he'd be uncontrollable. It was so bad in early days I was losing my mind. I blame myself every day wondering what I could've done differently to have prevented all of this. I was very careful, didn't drink or smoke and still had problems during pregnancy. I sure wish these findings were talked about so it could prevent things like this from happening to others.

These finding didn't prove anything. That is part of the issue I had with them.
