The slavering Right Wing morons wanted a "constitutionally conservative" Court. Well ... that Court has flushed rights down the toilet with AMAZING speed.

Be sure and thank your local TeaBagger for the ever reaching police state.
 Quoting: Scytherius

You apparently didn't read how the 5-4 decision split. The 5 liberals voted that the man is dirt, the 4 conservatives voted that the man has rights.

---
The case decided Monday involved a South Carolina man, Michael D. Turner, who was repeatedly held in civil contempt and jailed for as much as a year at a time for not paying child support.

Mr. Turner argued that he was too poor to pay what he owed and that a lawyer could have helped him convince the judge that jailing him was impermissible.
...
Justice Breyer’s majority opinion...
Justices Anthony M. Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan [the liberals] joined the majority opinion in the case, Turner v. Rogers, No. 10-10. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia and Samuel A. Alito Jr. [the conservatives] joined all or substantial parts of Justice Thomas’s dissent.
---
 Quoting: Skeptic the First

The majority basicly said, "slaves have no rights."

None of those majority judges can look themselves in the mirror and say they upheld the U.S. constitution with that decision. But, they can all look in the mirror and say that they pushed the agenda of the real powers that they have sworn allegiance to.

Most of the time, the money turns up pretty quickly once jail is threatened.

This is mainly to catch, well, deadbeats.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1548987

Exactly.
CA refuses to even look for the Dad.
Mine owed 200K but the kids are grown now, he is off the hook. I owe 45K for College to support his kids. The kids each work for 300 max a week in a good month, and we still live in an apartment. He is building a new house.
Never did CA threaten him with jail, nor would they even investigate where he lived or worked.
I paid all.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1494996

Exactly.

Everybody suffers under such legal system.

There is no uniform application of law. It is like 'is there a law'.

In Vedic law husband and wife can separate under some circumstances, but neither is free to remarry. This puts a brake on running away from responsibility.

Vedic system also relies heavily on family values. Many generations of a family lived in a large house without any dispute. So children always had company and lived in a real world rather than today's artificial TV world. So many problems in relationships are due to un-natural expectations from partners, due to child growing up lonely and without guidance of parents and family.

A clip from vedic culture article:

Vedic culture lays hevy emphasis on social harmony. It advises joint families - where many generations of a family live together. Houses were big because families were large. Guruji says that typical house in Ayodhya was seven stories high. People lived long - most people crossed 100 years of age easily. People were healthy and disease was rare. In fact there was no disease in Ramayan time.

Members of a family worked together and lived together. There was transfer of skills and knowledge from older to younger generation. Many businesses and industry were family occupations just as you would find today in old towns of India.

There was prosperity. Taxes were low. (Mind it, taxes are a big hinderance to wealth creation.). The Kings maintained small armies and smaller administrations. Our kings lived modestly compared to Egypt and Babylon etc. The palaces were modest. There was no show of wealth anywhere.

Kings ruled by force of Vedic law (Not by divine decree as King of England or Roman Kings). Vedas clearly say there is no son or daughter of God. No Vedic king claimed himself to be son of God or ruling in the name God. Kings were themselves bound by Vedic law, as much as the public. The punishment prescribed in the Vedic law was applied uniformed to everybody from top down.

Jon Cryer (Of 2 1/2 Men, "Duckie") has full custody. But still has to pay his ex wife 10 grand a month.

So…no matter what the man is screwed? Even if they have custody and a great lawyer.

Re: Supreme Court: No 'Due Process' Guarantee for Those Unable to Pay Child Support
Why do we reward a mother that can't support the children she has with free housing, welfare checks, free medical, free schooling, free food and now a free cell phone.... but a man who isn't working but had kids gets sent to prison????? Come on ladies, I thought we were for equality.
 Quoting: pistypisty 1498982

Most divorced moms don't get this stuff. They have to work like everyone else and struggle to make ends meet. They expect some support to come in (per court ordered child support) and when the husband quits paying, it' hard on the family. There are many families where the wife set her career goals on hold and stayed home or took a part-time job so that she could raise the kids more effectively. The husband made sufficient to support the family. Then, he gets catches roving eye of the secretary and pretty soon there's a bun in the oven and he's divorcing the wife in order to raise the new family. The wife & kids end up living on a $20,000 job because with her recent work history, that's all she can get. Yet he makes six figures (and sometimes has his own hidden stash of cash) and doesn't want to pay his share. I've seen this happen a bunch of times. It's the old first wife-trophy wife kind of thing.

.

Since when does the man have any say in anything?

She can keep it or abort it. He gets no say.

.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1539347

True -- any feminist or Liberal would have to agree with you.

If the woman decides to keep it, she has the responsibility to
pay for it. A man should have the discretion to allow her to make
the baby a bastard-child, and in reality the woman decides this.

Because in the end, judges also award custody of the child
to the mother 95 percent of the time.

.
 Quoting: Borat Sagdiyev

A bull shit system I think. Where is the right for a man to stay fatherless when the mother should take all responsibility when she decides to have a baby without the mans consent?

Child support is not about the kids, it is about the woman. I had three of my kids living with me and was still ordered to pay their mother child support.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1381505

Well, that's not right. ^^^
 Quoting: Seagal5

After my ex wife spent 1800 a month of child support on drugs and parting, she lost the house then abandoned the kids. I took custody of them and went to court to get child support from her. The court told me that if she isn't working they won't have a hearing on the matter. Later during the divorce I wasn't allowed to tell the judge any of this. Her lawyer said I could not prove that she actually got the money even tho it was taken out of my check by the state. The judge then rewarded her by giving her half of my pension and a thousand dollars a month for the rest of her life. Fuck the system and fuck all judges and lawyers.

If one should pay the other, then it goes both ways, as two were necessary to create this monetizable and marketable situation.

I agree with SC's decision because if you can't raise your kids, you shouldn't have them in the first place.

You can't have a kid and expect somebody else to do a parent's job for you because you are so irresponsible parents.

I know people who collect welfares on behalf of their kids.

They should put them in jail period.

some fathers would consider it a blessing
to be sent to prison. 3 square meals a day,
free medical care, free meds, a warm bed,
free TV, some men do not even have this
on the outside.

Once the state puts the father in prison,
then the state has to provide for 2 people,
the child AND the father. It is cheaper for
the state to leave him be.
