BOOM a Big one right from the get go?? I ask because there are quakes happening all over the place on the N. IF I am not mistaken... NM kicks off a few 3-4.0's a year. Not enough to notice... Then BOOM! I also seem to remember that it's aftershocks are almost as large as the first quake.

The 1811 New Madrid , the Charleston SC. EQ IN THE 1800'S, the 5+ in IL in '08, the DC quake all had no warning. I think it has to do with all the eastern North America quakes are intra-plate quakes.
