The meteor came across from right to left (west to east) almost parallel to the ground, maybe a couple of degrees drop. It started breaking up as it was just above the horizon ESE of me. I did not see any explosion wherever it hit. Seen a lot of meteors out in the desert, but never anything like that! |

Couldn't see a thing, too hazy here with overcast from the Pacific. On another note, anyone have any idea what that bright star is that rises every evening around 10pm in the east? Looks like a small planet more than a star sometimes, but definitely bright. I don't have a telescope. Tried to get pics of it last nite, and it looked faintly like the cross-shaped picture here... If a satellite has been expected to fall (then, der...most likely this is it!) I live a mile or so East of the ocean so strategically -NASA probably had the remains dissipate into the ocean. thanks all! |

At first I thought a fighter jet was going down, quickly realized it was a meteorite, but the largest I'd ever seen. Probably a piece of the satellite coming down. Beautiful to see. My guess, space junk or satellite parts. I am just stoked I actually saw something FOR ONCE! |

Although maybe I just never wanted to see the sky as much as I do this year. I just remember there was June gloom and that was it, now it seems like it happens all the time. |
