| Anonymous Coward User ID: 905924 09/15/2011 01:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try living in California. Apparently everyone here is a granola-eating, delusional, pro-big government, ultra-liberal. That seems to be the picture a lot of Americans have in their minds. Moderates and conservatives make up a good portion of our population, but everyone is painted with the same brush. I hear "can't wait for california to fall into the ocean" and "I can't wait for california's budget crisis to get worse, you deserve it...." all the time. The Democratic Party has done some good working on equality for all the citizens here, but have gone way over-board catering to illegal immigrants (non-citizens) and their supporters. The social program gravy-train has bled the state really badly, and there has been a general lack of fiscal responsibility, which is why California has slipped down-hill. But it is amazingly diverse, in topography and people. The mountains, forests, deserts and ocean are still unbelievable and amazing. I'm sure Texas, also large, has a wide range of environments, natural features and human view-points. The problem is, many people associate Texas with narrow-minded, intolerant blow-hards... and California with ultra liberal hippies. They are part of the picture, but they aren't the whole picture. That's the California stereotype, but not what I found when I visited there. As you said, lots of different kinds of people. Good and bad everywhere...like you say, friend from Cali! I visited Los Angeles, and some of the outlying smaller cities, took a trip up Mt. Baldy, went out to the Getty and down to Laguna Beach. I had a fantastic time and met lots of nice people. Great wine too! |

With those little decals showing a silhouette of Texas crossed by a red bar. With bumper stickers that read, "Texans go home." If Texans did go home, says former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm, "it would raise the IQ of both states." [link to www.5280.com] |
