If power grids get knocked out, how can you bug out without a car?

Bug out beforehand. You should have an idea, take a short holiday when things look like they are gettting bad. Make sure you have shelter a tent or something :)

It takes nothing to stop a car or truck, and anyone not in an armoured vehicle convoy with air support will be a sitting duck. Oops on my first reply to your response! I didn't know what a faraday cage was. That is an excellent idea. I could maybe get extra parts for our cars and wrap them, then once the emps are over, replace the parts?
