I have experienced the shadow beings you described. They are about 3-4 feet tall...like to be behind doors....turn the air into a dread type of feeling. They can move very quickly if they want to, however mostly they hang behind doors. I have seen this very kind of shadow being in Moundsville Prison on an investigation. Dang thing came out of a cell and charged my daughter. Moved right by both of us...
