UPDATED!!! I Emailed Seismologists At El Hierro Canary Islands - "No Evacuations Until NOW"

The tremors knocked the recording device off the table, and it broke when it hit the floor.

7,016 quakes listed now...was frozen before at 6,883., [link to www.02.ign.es]

On top of my table, all covered in rust...I lost my poor seismograph, when a quake shook the dust. It fell off the table, and onto the floor. Now my poor seismograph...she no workie no more.

Ive emailed them about the reports of relocating their population due to the quakes. If they respond Ill post it here too.

It would appear that as surface changes occur on El Hierro their machines are geting battered and not working properly. This is the 3rd time in three weeks these machines have gone down.

They responded to me right away on my first question. The last email I sent asking they're going to be relocating the residents from El Hierro has gone unanswered.

I am on vacation in Canary Islands right now. I am in Fuerteventura.

Let me tell you, this whole story is blown out of proportion.

Canary Islands are as peaceful and quiet as ever.
There is no shaking, no tremors nothing.

I personally belive the whole story is a fabrication and propaganda, part of a fear tactic.

Seismic activities are all around the globe, Canary Islands are no exception, but not dangerous here.

To tell you the truth I feel very safe here. Much safer than if I was in America or Japan right now.

I love tranquility in Canary Islands. No danger here.

strange how often 'technical problems' seem to strike these people when action is happening, eh?

Here, on Tenerife is all good too now, all peaceful. However, the weather this year is way out off its normal patterns.

This is important stuff. Man, I live about 80 miles from the coast and 52 feet above sea level. If that shit goes, we'd only have a little more than 6 hours to high tail in out.

Mr M*****, No relocation or evacuation has taken place in el Hierro island until now. The Volcanic Risk Plan (PEVOLCA) was activated last July due to the anomalous seismic activity occurring on the island. While this plan is activated, only the Information Office, dependent on the Director of the Plan, is in charge of communicating to the population and media the conclusions of the meetings of the Scientific Committee. The spokesperson of the Scientific Committee is at present El Cabildo de El Hierro. Therefore, I cannot give to you any information related to the conclusions of this Committee. So THERE you have it people! From the guy who works there...no evacuations until now! That means they're starting to evacuate, right? There was a tremendous increase in quakes over the weekend in El Hierro.

I would email him back explaining that better.

Ask if it means that they are NOW evacuating? And if so how many are being evacuated.

It took him a few days to respond this time. I don't want to bog him down but I will continue to research AND I will continue to post here what I find.

Think he might have meant "Until Now".... as in "As of this moment."?

In other words, as of this moment, there are no evacuations?

I'm right next door, on La Palma. Nothing of the sort (evacuations) going on here either, unlike the other thread recently started saying that there were. Was that you perchance ?

Agreed, extremely strange weather here on La Palma, too.

El Hierro is seeing a massive increase in quakes today. Evacuations could come at any time sounds like to me. There is at least 4 times as many quakes today as there was 2 days ago.
