Yup, anymore money asked for is a lie. What did they do with the first $Trillion dollars??

I'd STILL like to see the GOP candidates do an ad from the empty parking lot of Solyndra. You know, they could ALL do it TOGETHER - to show America that regardless of WHICH candidate gets the final nod, they are ALL against the wasteful spending of taxpayer money, especially to people who also happened to be big donators to Obama.

And I heard that there are at least 4 or 5 MORE companies being investigated for EXACTLY the same thing. What a co-inky-dinky!!

Not Just Dems: GOP Also Has Solyndra Ties

By Chris Frates
September 12, 2011 | 8:00 PM |

The collapse and FBI investigation of solar-panel maker Solyndra after it was given more than $500 million in federal loans by the Obama Administration has been a field day for Republicans. And RNC chairman Reince Priebus went big today calling the company, which axed 1,100 workers, a"prime example of stimulus failure."

But Priebus took his criticism one step further by saying the company represented "the kind of taxpayer-funded cronyism this White House said it would eliminate" because one of the company's major investors, George Kaiser, was also an Obama fundraiser. And Kaiser is one of the first investors in line to be repaid now that the company is headed toward bankruptcy, according to Time's Michael Grunwald.

The other investor slated to be paid back with Kaiser? A partnership affiliated with the Walton family of Wal-Mart fame, which, Grunwald also reports, leans Republican.

And that's not the only GOP tie. San Jose Mercury News scribe Dana Hull reported that Solyndra CEO Brian Harris is a registered Republican.

So with the White House going to great pains to point out that the loan guarantee program Solyndra used started under then President George W. Bush, it's only a matter of time until Democrats start publicly throwing around the GOP connections.

Yes, it's true that the beginnings of financing these companies were initiated during the Bush Administration (one MORE thing which Obama never gives him credit for) but there were many companies being considered, and there was a process which they were going through to evaluate their suitability for the loan guarantees.

Obama wanted a photo-op and a campaign soundbite, and chose several companies from the herd, all of which had made rather LARGE contributions to his campaign, and told his handlers that he wanted Solyndra's vetting process in particular to be speeded up and streamlined so he could be there on a specific day in order to make his great announcement. It's coming out NOW, after the fact, that there were e-mails, phone calls, etc. involving financial stability which would have removed this company from the fast-track if not from consideration altogether had the vetting process been allowed to continue. Instead, in his quest for a backdrop for his "Green Jobs" announcement, Obama galloped over those red flags like a horse heading for the barn when it hears the grain-bin lid squeak.

Exclusive Timeline: Bush Administration Advanced Solyndra Loan Guarantee for Two Years, Media Blow the Story

By Stephen Lacey and Climate Guest Blogger on Sep 13, 2011 at 11:10 am

It’s often claimed that the Solyndra loan guarantee was “rushed through” by the Obama Administration for political reasons. In fact, the Solyndra loan guarantee was a multi-year process that the Bush Administration launched in 2007.

You’d never know from the media coverage that:

1. The Bush team tried to conditionally approve the Solyndra loan just before President Obama took office.
2. The company’s backers included private investors who had diverse political interests.
3. The loan comprises just 1.3% of DOE’s overall loan portfolio. To date, Solyndra is the only loan that’s known to be troubled.

Because one of the Solyndra investors, Argonaut Venture Capital, is funded by George Kaiser — a man who donated money to the Obama campaign — the loan guarantee has been attacked as being political in nature. What critics don’t mention is that one of the earliest and largest investors, Madrone Capital Partners, is funded by the family that started Wal-Mart, the Waltons. The Waltons have donated millions of dollars to Republican candidates over the years.

With a stagnant job market and Obama sinking in the polls, the media has decided on a narrative that matches right-wing talking points but not the facts. For instance, Bloomberg had this incredibly misleading headline yesterday, “Obama Team Backed $535 Million Solyndra Aid as Auditor Warned on Finances.” If you replace “backed” with “touted,” that would be accurate. But the headline makes it seem like the White House had decided to give $535 million to a company after an auditor had said it was financially troubled.

You have to read half the story to learn that the loan guarantee was made in 2009 and the audit was done in 2010 after market conditions had sharply worsened! And the Bloomberg story never explains that the company itself raised $250 million from private investors after the supposedly devastating audit!

To set the record straight, Climate Progress is publishing this timeline — verified by Department of Energy officials — that shows how the loan guarantee came together under both administrations. In fact, rather than rushing the loan for Solyndra through, the Obama Administration restructured the original Bush-era deal to further protect the taxpayers’ investment:

I don't know how to do a link yet, but if you go to the DRUDGE REPORT there is an article entitled "Obama Disses Both Boehner And McConnell In One Stroke" which takes you to a site called "White House Dossier".

Next Thursday, Obama will travel to the Brent Spence Bridge, which connects Cincinnati and COVINGTON, Kentucky.

McConnell is the Senator from Kentucky and Boehner, while the bridge isn't in his district, all of the TV publicity will beam all the info on this poor tired bridge all over Ohio (and the US).

Jay Carney denies anything political in the choice of this bridge to highlight Obama's Jobs Bill, although there are 30 bridges - 12 per cent - in DC which are in need of repair.

So there you have it. THAT's why all of the suddeen attention to this bridge. Another photo-op for Obama.

Thank you SO much!! It's really embarassing, as well as a little bit terrifying, to be around people who know so much more about using computers. You'll laugh at me (but remember YOU were new to this stuff once yourself!) but I kept going back to the article and WRITING DOWN all the dot coms, backslashes, and hyphens. That's how come my first URL post went to a 404, because I neglected to put in a backslash. So I wrote down your instructions so I can do it right next time. I can't help but feel that more people might have posted comments had I been able to provide a correct link to begin with. Thanks to your help, Real, I have improved my capabilities.

Nothing to be embarassed about. I sure didn't mean to poke any fun at you.

We were all new at one time, that's why I take time to help when I can

Oh yea, there are tons of things I don't know. Actually I believe no one person can know everything about using the internet, much less know averything about using a computer.

Have fun learning and good luck

The truth is hard to discern here, but as far as political posturing I think Obama admnistration wins the prize.

"By the time the Obama administration took office in late January 2009, the loan programs' staff had already established a goal of, and timeline for, issuing the company a conditional loan guarantee commitment in March 2009," said Jonathan Silver, who heads the Energy loan program.

Republicans pushed back hard against this version of events, unearthing internal Energy Department emails that indicate the panel evaluating the loans had made the unanimous decision to shelve Solyndra's application two weeks before Obama took office.

Blaming the failed loan on the Bush administration marked an abrupt turn for the Energy Department, which had championed the Solyndra loan as a model for its efforts to build a so-called "green energy" industry that creates jobs and safeguards the environment. The Solyndra loan was so central to this strategy that the administration initially planned to have Obama personally announce it, and later sent the president to the company's solar panel manufacturing facility in Fremont, California to celebrate its work.

What I meant by posturing is it seems the Bush people did not seek 'credit' before or after the fact. The Obama people wanted credit until things soured, then they want Bush to have credit (blame). Obama is also quick to take credit for things his staff does, but equally quick to point and duck if things turn out badly.

My remark was about Obama's personal character, not the details of this particular mess.

You too, have a good one.
