Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oct, 01 2005 - 2:00 AM TORONTO/640 TORONTO - A Toronto hospital is apparently under partial quarantine in fear of a respiratory outbreak. There are reports that 2 people were admitted to Scarborough General Hospital with an unknown respiratory illness. As a result, the triage and emergency departments are apparently under semi-quarantine. But earlier reports that Rouge Valley Centenary in Scarborough was also quarantined have been struck down. Director of Communications at Rouge Valley Health Anne-Marie Males says 12 residents of the 7 Oaks nursing home have been admitted to their hospital with flu-like symptoms. They have all been put in isolated rooms, but she says this is a all normal precaution taken when an illness hasn´t been identified. She says Rouge Valley is asking patients not to bring visitors through emergency, but states again that there is no quarantine in effect at their facility. hatch battener (OP) 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Toronto was the first and most severly hit by the SARS virus in North America. It caused major economic damage to the region. As a small business owner, I worry that a bird flu outbreak in my region could sink my business. Who would want to buy products from an area infected with a virus that kills half the people who get it? |
Marlboro Man (OP) 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Russian Intelligence Services are reporting today that Bird Flu Outbreaks have begun occurring" (from Sorcha´s thread) OK Yamguy, I guess this means you are a Russian agent, your busted.LOL I haven´t heard anymore other than what has all ready been posted here. So far it still seems hard to tell if this is even related to the Avian flu. Almost any bug going around a nursing home can cause respiratory problems. The other two cases may be just coincidence. We probably won´t know anything until they have time to run a few cultures. If it turns out to be nothing, we may hear nothing at all. If it does turn out to be the Avian flu, WHO will list the outbreak. [link to www.who.int] |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Officers were called after someone discovered some 30 dead animals at the Dentonia Golf Course in the Victoria Park and Danforth area. The birds were collected by the Toronto Wildlife Centre and have been taken to Guelph for testing, police said. Authorities issued a public safety warning after the disturbing discovery Friday, and are advising people in the area to be cautious, especially parents with young children, as it’s still not known what caused the animals’ deaths. Last week, another 10 dead birds were reportedly found in an elementary school playground in the same neighbourhood. One official from the Toronto Wildlife Centre believes the creatures were poisoned, according to published reports. Pet owners were mortified when dogs were deliberately poisoned by pieces of hot dog laced with an insecticide in February 2004. One pooch died and the morsels of food sickened several others. If you have information, call the Toronto Wildlife Centre at 416-631-0662. [link to www.pulse24.com] |

The governments of our countries are not famous for their honesty, now are they? And we all know that there is now a de-population program in progress. A quiet one. What do you see for Toronto? --------------------------- Dear Soul, There will be panic about bird flu. It will be contained. Toronto, will be better than many other places. Take Care |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This needs to be watched, of course, but no indications of H5N1 as of yet in this case. We need to be careful, as Toronto MAY be feeling a need to keep things hushed up….(Due to the SARS problem…) No need to panic just yet. That will come in about a month and a half or two months… |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a fever/chills, aches and a sore throat on Monday. I live in Detroit. Whatever it was I beat it before it took hold. I megadosed on echinacea tincture for a few days, and have been taking sublingual b12, and liquid multimineral, enzyme, probiotic, and vitamin complex. Eating light, and keeping warm. Hot salt baths and green and fresh ginger tea helps. Keep your nose and throat clean and moist by pouring saline from one side to the other of your nose, and use listerine, floss and brush regularly. Stop smoking. I did and it helps. Drink mopre water. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One big problem is the heating costs are supposed to be really high here, and a lot of people are going to freeze to death because this winter is supposed to be really cold. The paper said heating costs were expected to be 50% higher this winter here. That´s a lot when your bill is already 500$ each month from Dec. to Feb.(for a piddly apartment built in the 20´s) This could end up exacerbating the problem. More and more it begins to look as though all of this is being engineered. Who Makes money? Oil and drug companies. |
