when did it beging to rotate counter clockwise like low pressure.
weird.
becomes a TD but the mass of clouds is rotating clockwise, unless someone is playing with the gifs and has them playing in reverse. |

It could douse hell
T.D. 20 is expected to emerge into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Sunday, and could redevelop into a tropical storm as it heads toward the west-northwest. Folks along the South Texas and Mexican Gulf Coasts should monitor the progress of this system early next week.

The whole Gulf Coast has been ravaged by storms in the last 2 years.
From the southeastern tip of Florida, up thru the panhandle, along the coast of Alabama and Mississppi, of course NO, and now over to the Texas border.
Also the Eastern coast of Florida and Eastern seacoast. Wierd huh? |

In case you´ve never noticed, or never understood... hurricanes rotate counterclockwise at the surface... but rotate clockwise in the upper atmosphere, where the flow "sucked up" into the storm in lower levels exits out up high.
So there must be an upper level high pressure system sitting over a lower level low, and that´s what you´re seeing in those loops. Sooner or later, one wins out, either the low pressure drags the high down, or the high pressure squashes the low.

The rotation is slight, but does appear to be clockwise. Will have to see as this forms more.
This could also just be storms blowing up in a larger area rather than clockwise rotation.
As the TD develops more this will be very clear. |

I wonder if there is something abnormal going on in the upper atmosphere to cause the reverse rotation. Something must be initiating this effect.
Weather 101 (from old college days)
Usually high pressure means increased barometric (atmospheric) pressure that in effect presses down towards earth causing the air to move laterally to an area of lower pressure to equalize. Like flattening a ball of clay.
The difference in pressure gradient causes windflow between high pressure centers towards low pressure centers where the wind rises causing updrafts and creating storms.
Thus, the wind pattern in high pressure moves away from its center and rotates outward and clockwise, while for low pressure weather systems the air moves towards its center, then upwards causing counter clockwise rotation.
Again, is there anything unusual happening way above the cloud tops of this reverse circulating system? |

Interesting. I´m aware of those and that is a good place to start. Has the physical height location of these anomolies been determined?
I was also thinking of that weird beam coming from space into Katrina´s eye that you showed on the site. |

I recall this happening once before about 4 or 5 years ago in the Gulf of Mexico. I cannot recall the name of the storm but I do remember it also had a clockwise rotation.

I noticed a low pressure system about 2 weeks ago off the top north east end of south america, that appeared to be rotating clockwise as well.
I understand that there have been other reports of this phenomenon for a while now. |

to the spinning wheels guy , it does that because it is moving faster than your brain via eyes can compensate, creating the illusion. the thing is though if a hurricane was churning that quickly, well it would be the largest tornado ya ever saw and it would suck up the whole atmosphere just to keep it plugged in. |

For all weather manipulation conspiracy theorists:
Could the rotation be faster than what the government is reporting? It´s not like any one of us will park our asses in the middle of this thing to find out.
I saw some deviation in the cateogory reporting of Rita which is why I am posting this question.
