!!! The NPDB Public Use Data File is not available until further notice. !!!
What is the NPDB?
The NPDB Public Use Data File contains selected variables from medical malpractice payment and adverse licensure, clinical privileges, professional society membership, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reports (adverse actions) received by the NPDB concerning physicians, dentists, and other licensed health care practitioners.
What is the Problem?
The Public Use Data File is not available at this time because the Division of Practitioner Data Banks is reviewing its procedures for disclosing information in a form that does not permit the identification of any particular health care entity, physician, other health care practitioner, or patient. The Public Use Data File may be available after a thorough analysis of the data fields to ensure the protection of confidential information is completed. The data in the Public Use Data File will also be examined in conjunction with other publicly available data sets to reduce disclosure risks.
This means that if you want to check up on whether a Doctor or other healthcare professional has been part of a malpractice suit your not allowed to.
