I noticed it the other day and didn't know it was Jupiter. I made a thread and asked like you did :)

I do wonder when the last time Jupiter was so visible. Apparently there are some moons around Jupiter as well which show up along with it very nicely in telescopes right now.

they look like mini projectors floating in the sky to me. same things we see as airplanes. lots of them around here. they hover too and like like they have wings. a airliner cannot hover 400 feet up and then slowly move away when you stop your car to look. that was nuts.

I think it's Mercury. Anyone else. There's an Ap for that.

You guess right. Astronomers haev been watching Jupiter getting brighter for months now and it'll be at opposition late October, and even brighter by then.

One of the big problems on GLP is that most people don't pay any attention to the skies until someone glances up and notices something, and posts a thread about it.

If you don't know what's supposed to be visible, how can you tell if it's wrong?

Hence all the threads about Jupiter, the sun and moon being "out of place" etc. etc. Yet all it takes is a few minutes to check with a star map program or web site...
