Unemployed now being given Starvation Rations in UK

25 MILLION in the US unemployed or underemployed. If you have a job you are damn lucky and count your blessings. If you aren't planning on losing your job, you are STUPID! Near xmas time you'll see how pissed off the people are, there will be lots of suicides, burglaries, lootings, protests, desperate behaviors, anger and violence, frozen corps on the streets, see how lately an handful of idiots brought many to steal TV sets and other useless non vital shits, formated consumers are made to consume whatever it takes, dark times ahead.

For sure. The cost of that wedding could've bought a lot of food for the underprivileged in Britain...

I challenge any non-Brit to come live here, try and get a job and live comfortably whilst abiding by the law.

You can work as hard as your mind and body will allow, but this country just keeps taking and taking and taking from the employed and unemployed.

That would be teaching independence & self-sustainibility. Apparently a big no-no in our "modern" societies.

Same here in Australia. Our government no longer pays welfare recipients enough to survive, but are happy to print out a referral to get help from a privately funded charity.

The 'Job Centres' here are also being given extra powers to cut off your payments, organise medical treatment if you claim you are too sick to work and send you off for 'work conditioning' (free labour force).

However, it was demonstrated to our government many years ago that these privately owned job centres are all corrupt, rorting the system and since they get paid in advance of doing their job, don't bother to do it once they have the money in the bank.

Most of the unemployed would actually prefer to have a real job, than to have to line up for referrals to a soup kitchen. Yet our government is currently indulging in a media campaign which brands every welfare recipient in this country 'a lazy bludger who has no intention to work', even if you happen to be dying of cancer in reality.

Wait til you lose your job or health. You will be the first cry baby in line for a handout. Hypocrites.

Tens of thousands of benefits claimants will be referred to food banks by the Government, which is worried that many Britons face a stark choice: starvation or feeding themselves by begging or stealing.

From tomorrow, jobcentres in England and Wales will refer the needy to charity-run food banks that will give them a food parcel. It is the first time in living memory that hungry people will have been passed on to charities in this way.

The only problem I really have with this is that they are using Christian charities. Not that there are many secular charities in the UK.

To the people who'll scream "Socialism" at this, I'd rather pay slightly higher taxes and have this happen than have people stealing food all over the place.
