Unemployed now being given Starvation Rations in UK | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1555198 United States 09/18/2011 08:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 25 MILLION in the US unemployed or underemployed. If you have a job you are damn lucky and count your blessings. If you aren't planning on losing your job, you are STUPID! Have that one year plan in place because if you lose your job...it's going to be hell finding another one. [link to americancenturyblog.com (secure)] I remember all this same bullshit under Carter. It was all, "WE MUST SHARE THE PAIN." I keep hearing that bullshit everytime socialists get elected. How about sharing some prosperity for once? Want prosperity? REIGN FUCKING GOVERNMENT IN. Start drilling like a mother fucker. SLASH TAXES AND GUBMNT SPENDING. It's not a difficult concept, but you socialists would rather chant, "TAX THE RICH" than vote for someone who would do the opposite and help the economy improve. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1528411 We get vouchers that are only for milk or fresh veg/friut that come to just over £3 a week till a child is five. Other then that nothing. I didn't know of this sending people to get food parcel thing. I think it's only if you don't get your money and don't qualify for a hardship loan. ei braking the benefit rules. I challenge any non-Brit to come live here, try and get a job and live comfortably whilst abiding by the law. You can work as hard as your mind and body will allow, but this country just keeps taking and taking and taking from the employed and unemployed. |

Quoting: jannerfish Same here in Australia. Our government no longer pays welfare recipients enough to survive, but are happy to print out a referral to get help from a privately funded charity. The 'Job Centres' here are also being given extra powers to cut off your payments, organise medical treatment if you claim you are too sick to work and send you off for 'work conditioning' (free labour force). However, it was demonstrated to our government many years ago that these privately owned job centres are all corrupt, rorting the system and since they get paid in advance of doing their job, don't bother to do it once they have the money in the bank. Most of the unemployed would actually prefer to have a real job, than to have to line up for referrals to a soup kitchen. Yet our government is currently indulging in a media campaign which brands every welfare recipient in this country 'a lazy bludger who has no intention to work', even if you happen to be dying of cancer in reality. You can thank Howard for the beginning of this trend. As well as disabling unions to remove power from employee, he also cut the dole so employees were less likely to quit their jobs.... again to remove power from employee. |

Biochemky User ID: 919411 United States 09/18/2011 09:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oxfam research shows that up to 6 per cent of Britons report they have enough to eat only "sometimes". Helen Longworth, Oxfam's head of UK poverty policy, said: "It's shocking that more and more people in the UK are being forced to go to food banks to be able to eat ... In this day and age, nobody should be forced to choose between paying a bill or feeding their family." [link to www.independent.co.uk] So, exactly WHAT do these people at Oxfam think has historically been the primary reason why working families get behind paying their bills??? Acquiring a trendy new fur coat? Acquiring a designer string of pearls? Acquiring perhaps a Faberge egg that excites their fancy? You idiots! Working families DON'T just CHOOSE not to pay their bills! Historically the primary reason why working families get behind paying their bills IS TO FEED THEIR KIDS!!! Working families having trouble making ends meet is NOT NEW! It has been this way for FREAKING CENTURIES! The fact that working families OFTEN have trouble feeding their kids is news to Oxfam is what is SHOCKING! Last Edited by Biochemky on 09/18/2011 09:12 PM |

Apparently a big no-no in our "modern" societies. i would be happy with 1 acre, I would absolutely love that sort if independence and responsibility TPTB would never go for this. It allows for too much freedom and independance. People would quit being wage slaves if they had viable alternatives, if they could grow thier own food and build thier own shelters. So they regulate what kind and what size house you can live in, require permit$ for what kind of toilets you can have, and fine you if try to color too far outside of the lines. They need you to HAVE to work for them. They need a certian percentage to always be unemployed, to make sure the ones that are employed have incentive to continually tow the party line. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 842983 United States 09/18/2011 10:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | here you go, the beginning: Quoting: 2012pl Tens of thousands of benefits claimants will be referred to food banks by the Government, which is worried that many Britons face a stark choice: starvation or feeding themselves by begging or stealing. From tomorrow, jobcentres in England and Wales will refer the needy to charity-run food banks that will give them a food parcel. It is the first time in living memory that hungry people will have been passed on to charities in this way. The government shouldn't even be involved. Charities have always worked better for this sort of thing. Of course, in extreme cases, the government can help but too often the government is a nanny. |

Not that there are many secular charities in the UK. Quoting: Lime Flavoured Redux To the people who'll scream "Socialism" at this, I'd rather pay slightly higher taxes and have this happen than have people stealing food all over the place. I'd rather my tax money help the genuinely poor than provide welfare to filthy rich banksters. |
