Its centered in a conservation area; so may not be a large population effected.

If a earthquake strikes u in a hilly/mountainous region, ur chances of not getting hurt or injured r quite low. The buildings are built on unstable ground.

If you felt the M6.8 Sikkim earthquake in Nepal, eastern India or Bangladesh please let us know

We are experiencing severe technical difficulties at the moment and unfortunately we cannot do anything to sort this out until Monday morning. The website will therefore not see any significant updates for the next 12-hours. We will be following this event all through the night here at the ASC. Please bear with us.

We very sincerely apologise for being unable to provide you with information in this difficult time, as we have in the past twelve years. We would like to work on this but it is out of our hands - Stacey Martin, ASC Pune

Magnitude revised upwards to Mw 6.9

Re: 6.9 mag India
There was very severe flooding in India recently:
At least 26 people have died and nearly 200,000 have been evacuated as a result of massive flooding in the eastern Indian state of Orissa, a minister said on Thursday.

He added that a total of 2.1 million people in the state of 40 million people had been affected in some way or another with floodwaters entering their homes or their crops submerged.
