The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for the practice of all other virtues, because otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue has no cost. There are times when something needs to be done, and yet we know that if we step up and do this needful thing, we will pay a heavy personal price. -C.S. Lewis |

They are fairly cheap. Install at front and back doors, hallway, and living room, etc. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1029401 IP/net cams work best because they can be configured to FTP images off-site for safe secure storage AND email you a notification. And you want the cameras visible in a location where the burglar will come face to face with it and pause in surprise for a moment, ha, really. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1291907 United States 09/19/2011 08:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry this happened OP. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1557244 There have been a bunch of burglaries around here lately. My friend got robbed last week while she was out picking up the kids at school...My friend has a big dog - a lab that was useless. They broke in to the house by popping open a lock on a brand new window. Took a dog toy and threw it into the half bath...dog followed and they locked her in there. They took a laptop from the kitchen, jewelry from upstairs and the kid's piggy bank money (urgh). When I was a teenager my house was robbed while we were in it. I was in my room and my parents in the living room. They climbed into my parent's bedroom and went through all their stuff...opened all my Mom's jewelry cases very neatly and stole...nothing. I think that made my Mom feel worse than anything! |

Mystic User ID: 1520759 United States 09/19/2011 08:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Things are getting really bad (and a little scary) out there. At my work, we've had 4 worker's vehicles in the past week (on different days) had their catalytic converters stolen off of them. A gf that is in my unit, her car was one of the ones that was hit. Guess it's fairly easy and the mechanic said there are selling them on the street for $100-$150 a piece. If they hit 10 cars a day, that's an easy $1000! Her insurance didn't cover because of her $500 deductible, with parts and labor cost her $413 (that none of us having laying around). We're all waiting to see which one of our cars is next. And the kicker....it's a guarded lot! 3 different guards on duty when all 4 have happened so far. Just out of camera range too, go figure _______________________________________ |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1393002 Canada 09/19/2011 08:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry to hear this Angel. Our home was broken into a few years ago and even to this day I find out things are missing that I don't use often. It's an awful feeling for sure. Were all your cupboards and drawers open as well, that really creeped me out knowing they were into everything including our underwear drawers. We ended up getting good blinds for every window and a security system finally and a dog. There have been more break ins, but not our place any more, thankfully. |
