Poor Troy Davis. Hopefully, he has made his peace with God if they execute him!! But if he is innocent and they kill him; God will take him in and he will have a wonderful life in heaven!! But praying that they stay his execution will be much better!! Yes lets intervene and believe God to have him to stay his execution!!

wow, just called the governor's office. they are only one of four states where the governor can not grant a stay of execution or do a pardon.

the parole board number above sounds like a fax and no one is picking up.

will look for another number for the parole board.

the lady told me that they are making note of the people who are calling in asking for a stay of execution, and they are passing the number of callers up to the board

I told her that Georgia's reputation for human rights sucks, and that the board could do a world of good for Georgia by granting a reprieve until this was sorted out.

I really don't understand the reasoning behind all of this, hemming and hawing, by the state. If people did indeed lie underoath, arrest them, retake their statements. Prosecute them for lying underoath, obstruction of justice, and whatever else they can throw at them. They are as at much fault or more that the state is. Then retry Mr.Davis...if he is then found guilty, then his execution is expedited.

If Mr.Davis is executed (without a retrial), I'd sue the shit out of the state and those who gave false testimony, for wrongful death. Granted money won't heal or fix an injustice, but it can teach a lesson to the state. If this case is won, then criminal charges should be looked into for every law entity involved in this case.



Even if he is guilty of this crime...The entire case was flawed and should be retried.

i hate the death penalty. not in favor of it since I found out that so many innocent folks are executed.

read too many survivors of death roll stories about innocent folks who sat on death role for 10, 15, 20 years and then released due to new evidence.

death penalty needs to go away.

I think you need to ask yourself, why are the witnesses now recanting? Is it racially motivated? Is it a change of ideologies? More than likely, and as test studies have shown, your first reaction, or recounting of an event, are the most accurate, it is when time transpires that people begin to second guess themselves, or due to religious or conscious decisions change their testimony to save a life, in the event of a death sentence.

was my first Grisham book and i liked it a lot.


story is about a black guy on death row, in texas.

he confessed to a murder, but said it was under duress.

the only 'witness' recanted.


a day or two before he gets the needle the real murderer turns up, and a desperate race to get in front of a judge for a stay of execution begins.

the state governor denies clemency and being a politician he is a prick with two shitty 'advisers'.

this governor is planning to run for president, and obstructs the last ditch submission of the new witness testimony. (he has record number of execution for his time in office)


the innocent guy does get killed (grisham must have sat in on a couple of 'cutions by the way he tells it) which makes the fallout all the worse for all the shit-cakes that stopped the truth getting out - prosecutor, detective, judge.....and the presidential hopeful Texas governor.


i though of this even when i heard of the man that was killed a while back for burning his wife and kids even though new evidence was produced, and how Perry must have been in Grishams mind for his character.

Grisham, an ex lawyer and clearly very much against the death penalty is fair in pointing out that the defense team will always be claiming new evidence right up until the execution, will try anything to delay it.


so, Troy might be fucked, but so is Perry if it goes like the book.
