It's fucking true. But it takes people who have nothing to lose. And in the US, there are really very few such people. Most of those kids I'm sure have comfortable homes to go back to once they are tired of their pretend revolution. They wouldn't want to risk a lengthy prison term over this campout business, would they?

I was very disheartened when I found this article and others like it. Many protesting are protesting for change of corrupt BANKS. However these articles are not about the common ppl who are doing the protesting. Very sad.

I see a lot of people engaging in peaceful, pissed off protest. Telling police officers they are assholes. Telling people to burn in hell.

That is not peaceful. That is a public nuisance in the law's book. And then you have the nerve to say that your hand ties are too tight or you hands are bleeding because you refused to walk?

This is not logical. Protest is allowed. They can arrest you as well for disturbing the peace etc etc etc. Just do not resist arrest. That is specifically why these people were getting "beaten," not because the police were intentionally brutalizing them, but because they were refusing to go with the police.

I think the protests are fine. I think claiming the police are brutalizing you when it is you who are brutalizing yourself by refusing to cooperate is nonsense.

I wish the best for these people, but their protests 1) will do nothing and 2) please just go with the police when they ask you or you will be considered resisting arrest....

By the way, those cops that were "brutalizing" that kid... they get paid to strap on a gun every day and put their lives on the line to protect citizens and I bet a lot of them actually did tours overseas actually fighting for what they believe in.

I talked to friends on the ground there and the main organizers do have a permit and the cops claimed the tarps to protect the equipment where "habitats". So they used that as an excuse to try an illegal arrest which they have no grounds for. Also told several "non NYPD security personal" directing the NYPD. This protest is really ruffling feathers so I say it is very effective just needs to grow by about 40,000 Friday morning then see what TPTB have to say. TPTB are scared to death this protest will grow, if 40k-100k get involved they won't be able to control it.
