find an attorney who will listen for 1/2 hour no charge. Times are hard. Can you submit references that don't point to your recent employer?

Didn't embezzle anything... Wife died suddenly... grown kids hated my boss... and they are worth millions. Ruined MY life..I am being evicted now.. That is what they wanted.. I only worked for him for 7 months!!!

Did you find out what the background checks said? Usually, you can ask for a copy of the background check that the employer performed. Read the fine print on your paperwork. Also, check to see if it is legal to do background checks in California.

Your posts make some things unclear...are you a single mother with two children....or are you a father with adult kids?!?! No joke - your posts made that part unclear!

Were you living with your boss? Why would the adult kids of your boss want you evicted? You are/were a sound engineer? The posts are confusing!

There are seven counts against me and they ALL come up in background checks... I paid myself to see what was there.. OMG... Rico... Racketeering .. Elderly abuse... OMG... she was only 65 for gods sakes!! and in good sane mind..

I feel for you, I really do. Being an assistant puts you in strange situations ethics wise. I had a boss ask me, as a job duty, to procure an illegal ID for his best investor so she could get better rates at a country club. I declined and was subsequently let go.

It looks like from what you have said a lawsuit definitely needs to be filed against him by you.

You have not been convicted of any crime, just accused of one in a lawsuit so there should not be any reporting on your background search. There is a big difference between the two. I would look at the legalities of the reporting because this is America after all, innocence until proven.

Call lawyers and find out when they have pro bono work.
(Each year lawyers is required to do x amount of social work for free, I forget how many hours). There are also shelters that can help you contact cheap lawyers. Some lawyers won't charge you unless you win your case.

You abused the elderly? Then you probably deserve what your getting and I feel sorry I tried to help you.

I know it is emotional for you, but you are going to have to start from the beginning if you want anyone to actually try to help you. You don't have to go into your financial situation, everyone understands the economy sucks and it is hard to get a job.

Start from the beginning and tell your story in a logical and concise format. You might as well start it here as when you present it to any attorney they are going to tell you the same thing.

You are asking for free advice -- so you are going to have to do a lot of work before anyone worth their salt will sit on a conspiracy website and try to tell you some sound advice.

My first thought would be, you are going to draw unemployment so that will help. My secnod thought was to tell you to go to a temp company and go to work in a temp job. They probably will do a background check, but I cannot imagine "Pending" criminal charges coming up -- and even if they do, tell the temp company your story before-hand.

Next go to your local church and tell them your story and see if they can be of any help.

You are going to have cut every expense you have, car, cable, etc. but you probably already know that.

So sit down logically and tell your story without emotion and see if you get a better response. It will help you formulate the story you are going to tell your attorney, might as well get an outline of it done now with every date and fact you can come up with.

Go to the District Attorney as well. Let them know your side of the story. They can also probably send you to a place that can give you good legal counsel. I like what the poster above said as well. Shelters may point you towards legal counsel as well.

Your ex may not be around...but,are his parents around? They may be able to help you. What about your parents, can they help you?

This may sound strange...but, I can tell when you post! I literally am hearing (not verbally - just feeling) from God to write back. He knows you are distressed. He knows that ultimately you will be fine!...yes, that includes your kids too!
