and what are the privacy settings like?

I have more celebs than friends on Google+ right now. Just wait till all our conspiracy celebs get on. Instant info, news, posts from them by adding them to our cirlces and we don't have to be authorized as a "friend". It's only a matter of time until everyones on Google+.

i guess thats why facebook did the update thing today...to try and get attention away from the google

I closed my Google+ account and joined Diaspora. A distributed, social web. You can join one of the many public "pods" such as [link to www.diasp.org] or you can run your own.

Unfortunately it's probably not going to get as big as Google+. I don't like the name thing much either but you don't go putting in endless info about yourself like you do on FB. Very basic stuff. You can tell it's focused on features and the end user experience where FB is just a big data bank of people.

The big thing for me is how many famous people are on here from the beta. That is going to attract not only more celebs but hoards of everyone else. I'm seriously looking foward to Richard Hoagland, John Lear, and the rest of the people we read about to sign on so we can get instant updates on what they are doing. From my experience it's truly social media v2.

Looks promising, but I have my doubts. I think all these companies are sell outs or will sell out when pressured.

Privacy is long gone, but no harm in trying to retain some of it or regain it.

Google and Facebook are definitely NOT private, don't kid yourselves people.

First of all, there's nothing social about sitting at a desk chatting about the crap you just took or the class you've got to go to tonight. What ever happened to speaking on the phone or meeting up with someone?

All these 'social' media sites are a tool of the govt. to get info on you. How easy we've made it for the CIA to collect info on us - we freely give it to them. Never had an account and never will. How come noone else sees this?!
