MONSTER SUNSPOTS appearing. Could be the largest region in the last 6-8 years !

Nobody knows exactly what will happen,

that is why they are hedging their bets,

if you got money and you think something will happen,

especially if the science behind it says it might,

well you are not just going to sit around and wait for it,

Guys, its really not that far off the size that produced the Carrington event. I think she could pop off a couple >X8s.. or a doomgasm x48 our way.

Probably not. I tried my best, but the artistic impression from the 1859 event doesn't give me a good enough idea. Maybe if I grid the present sun image it might be a little easier. Wish he had drawn a full-sized sun in 1859.

Each division in that last image is represents 15degres East-West or North-South. 1302 appears to be as big as, or bigger than the division East-West, thus making it roughly 15-20deg wide. Flash over to the Carrington image (#2), you can see that the sunspot cluster is slightly less than 15deg in width. I think its safe to assume that 1302 is at least as big as the cluster that lead to the Carrington Event. Of course, this is all being based on how accurate the 1859 illustration is. It looks like my 'ball park' guess when merging the images is probably close to accurate.

Fun times ahead.

The good news is that with the X1.9 & 1.4 flare recently that glanced us, thats most of the humph taken out of it, and we're only gonna get a few more M flares.

Its unlikely to get another big X flare from the same spot. We might get another X~2 flare but I don't think we should really be worried.

Not to mention DRKSTRONG just said in his YouTube update that it looks like 1302 is magnetically connected with another sunspot that is still not in view.

According to Spaceweather.com, I doubt it..

UPDATE: Sunspot AR1302 followed today's X2-flare with an M7-flare nearly as strong (movie). So far none of the blasts has been squarely Earth-directed, but this could change as the sunspot turns toward our planet in the days ahead. AR1302 is growing and shows no immediate signs of quieting down.

Of course I do. I believe this set has a lot more energetic potential than a few weak Xs. It is huge.. the one following it is even bigger and is probably linked.
