The *one thing* the Teamsters, Perry, Bachmann & the American Legion agree on - the TransCanada Keystone pipeline
When completed, TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline will bring nearly 20,000 direct
and 118,000 indirect jobs to Americans.

When completed, the Keystone XL pipeline will also safely deliver nearly 5 percent
(almost one million barrels per day) of America’s daily consumption of oil from Canada
to the U.S. Gulf Coast – without the risk of environmental damage from a supertanker
oil spill originating from the Middle East, and without the need of deploying U.S. troops
overseas to defend the oil at its source.

Who's for it [link to www.transcanada.com] :

Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters
Rocky Mountain Environmental Labor Coalition

Rick Perry
Mitt Romney
Michele Bachmann
Newt Gingrich
Rick Santorum
The American Legion
US Chamber of Commerce
scores of Mayors, Governors and entire State Legislatures

Who's against it:

Al Gore
Al Jazeera
New York Times
MoveOn.org
Sierra Club
Greenpeace
China
(who is willing to pay for another
pipeline to get their hands on the oil)

The public comment period will end October 9
and will include nine public meetings
in the states affected by Keystone XL: Texas, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota,
Oklahoma, ending in Washington, D.C. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will make her
recommendation to President Obama, who must make a decision to connect the Keystone pipeline
across the Canadian-U.S. border by November 1.

During this period, you have an opportunity to support the pipeline in a number of ways:

By fax: 206-269-0098

TAPS was delivering 2.1 million barrels a day at it's most productive.

Right now, that has declined to under 600,000 barrels a day.

There is a LOT of oil remaining north of the Brooks Range, if only it could be.....you know? Developed and shipped?

The eco-freaks and the EPA refuse to allow drilling off-coast or even approve new drilling on land.

Even after the US has dumped TRILLIONS of dollars into "Green Energy", Solar and Wind STILL
only account for 0.7 percent of the US's energy needs.

The 311 million people in America use 20 millions barrels of oil PER DAY, and that isn't going
to change anytime in the near future.

Be realistic -- a Pipeline is FAR more desirable than one of the dozens of Oil Tankers that arrive DAILY from
Saudi Arabia ripping open somewhere off the coast of Florida, California or elsewhere en route to a Refinery.

this is a North American Union pet project....NOT SAYING it would not make sense...but if other technology was allowed to be pursued it would render this pipeline OBSOLETE along with its so called jobs. Maybe tho BORAT....we KAN-A-PAY vorkers in AMERO units too.

BOTTOM LINE....BAD IDEA...it should have been implemented in the 90's maybe some jobs MIGHT STILL BE HERE....

One battle at a time, friend.

The EPA has gotten us to this point because of decades of their
soft tyranny on the American people -- it will take time to reverse it.

But if America doesn't get in line this oil, the Chinese will
gladly build larger Supertankers to take it for their use.

Globalization, and more loss of sovereignty. No thanks.

More condemning of people’s land so the government can steal it. No thanks.

More money for the evil clans like the Koch brothers, and the Bushs. No thanks.

Oil sands that require strip mining, and it takes one gallon of oil burn up, for every three gallons extracted. No Thanks.

They say it’s one gallon for every three, but I bet you it’s even worse, and when it gets down to one gallon for every one and a half gallons, when do they stop destroying everything?

It takes 60% of the energy in the oil to extract it. thats two thirds of the energy in the oil spent on natural gas. In other words if we didn't do it, we'd still have 60 percent of all the energy in the tarsands in extra gas.

What America needs to do is slow down on it's Oil use, it's crazy how far ahead they are in Oil usage compared to other countries, yeah America is probably the best developed nation in the world and that is a big contributor to it's usage, but it's also the fattest country, which goes to show how voracious the Americans are. Food, Oil, Water, it doesn't matter the Americans are using more and more of it.

We live in a limited world, we could all live happily on this world but it takes cooperation from all individuals on this planet, America has a big job, but the best resources to really help the planet. It's too bad they have been indoctrinated with this "Consume consume" attitude. Our planet weighs the most on the scale vs money and jobs. We have to start taking care of ourselves and our world around us, we all have this shared responsibility.

I just wish my words were more than words to you people, I wish it was your feelings deep within your being so you could truly understand what is at stake.

So, why does this oil need to be pipelined all the way across (north to south) the USA to get to refineries? Why not build refineries near the US Canadian border so that such a long long pipeline is not even needed?

Well yeah Natural gas burns cleanly, but the process of getting it is ugly, especially around the eastern states side of the country is in a ugly situation ever since our pal, Dick Cheney overrode a water protection bill in the name of money grabbing companies for Natural Gas, the homes all along the Natural Gas deposit are getting contaminated water, so bad that the tap water is flammable.

People don't get that our planet is fairly delicate to our "progress" and we need to protect it in order to protect ourselves. All the traders can't buy and trade if there is noone healthy enough to do it. Fuck money, break away from it's spell people.
