Observers in central Texas saw it streaking overhead (but not disintegrating) at 8:18 PM CDT on Sept. 23rd (1:18 UTC on Sept 24th). NASA STATEMENT: NASA has just issued a new statement on the re-entry of UARS: "As of 7 p.m. EDT on Sept. 23, 2011, the orbit of UARS was 90 miles by 95 miles (145 km by 150 km). Re-entry is expected between 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and 3 a.m., Sept. 24, Eastern Daylight Time (3 a.m. to 7 a.m. GMT). During that time period, the satellite will be passing over Canada, Africa and Australia, as well as vast areas of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. The risk to public safety is very remote." It tumbled once and made a single bright flash as the sun reflected off of it...that's what caught my eye as I was waiting for it otherwise I would have missed it. "Some say the end is near. No illumination so I didn't see it go over. Coming back over this location NW to SE at 4AM this morning with 87 degrees of maximum elevation so maybe...unless it goes down before then.

Around sunset West Texas was getting a little freaked out by the show. Don't know why NASA thinks it's important to release two weather balloons when everyone is thinking about the sky. Oh yes, distraction anyone? [link to www.connectamarillo.com] Some of the media around here is reporting they are high altitude research balloons co-sponsored through the University of New Hampshire. They reach altitudes up to 130-thousand feet. They are studying gamma rays from a Super Nova that's 65-hundred light years away.. “I love you more, I love you most. I can start reporting reg's telling you about the Cat is was sent as to the Surveillance sites or you can look up FPS-85 where I worked for lots of years. Those guy were working there ass off about an hour ago.

Just trying to keep people informed servers are crashing trying to keep up with the demand for location. I watched ob's for a living know what I saw tracked every object out there. BTW to stay in orbit 18,000 mph, hitting Earth about 8000 mph. peace out!
